Meet The Manager

Sabrina Dowling is Care Home Manager at East Park Court Residential Care Home.

East Park Court is an attractive care home located in a quiet residential area of Wolverhampton in the West Midlands. Our dedicated team provides differing types of care and support for our residents, including residential care, dementia care and respite care.

The teams in our care homes pride themselves on enriching their residents’ lives, delivering both dementia and respite care with compassion and dignity.

Many of our residents may have previously been cared for at home by a loved one. We understand how hard it can be to support someone through their dementia journey alone before they move into a care home. Our staff are therefore here to provide excellent dementia care and help our residents’ relatives when it comes to understanding dementia.

Our dementia care homes encourage and support our residents’ families to be part of their dementia journey. Relatives are welcome to visit whenever they like and we support them to be part of life in our care homes. They are often seen joining in with afternoon tea or taking part in activities with us. Sometimes relatives volunteer in the care homes, helping them to spend quality time with their loved ones.

Description

We pride ourselves on caring for our residents as though they were members of our own family. With this in mind our residential care homes are designed with all the usual comforts you would expect from home, creating a relaxing atmosphere with features such as cosy fireplaces and personalised bedrooms.

In partnership with our residents and their loved ones we create a bespoke care plan to build a picture of not only their health and wellbeing needs, but their emotional needs and who they are as an individual.

We tailor care and support to residents’ personal needs, so whether it’s something as simple as knowing they like a little extra sugar in their tea, to helping someone to rekindle a much-loved past time; we are there to help them to live life to the full.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Forget everything you think you might know about care home food (conjuring up images of school-like dinners and over-boiled vegetables!)

We recognise meal times have always been a focus for residents in our homes which is why we invest in fantastic chefs and catering staff who can deliver delicious, nutritious menus and create an enjoyable dining experience for our residents. Some of our residents enjoy getting involved in the preparation and serving of food! You can read more about this in our case studies.

Person centred care home dining

Cooked or continental? Sandwiches or hot food? The choice is yours with residents being involved in creating seasonal nutritional menus from old favourites to trying something new…there’s also always freshly baked cakes to enjoy for afternoon tea.

Midnight snack? No problem, refreshments are available to residents throughout the day and evening if they get a little peckish.

Dining with Dignity

We encourage meal-times where residents can eat together and socialise in a relaxing environment but understand that residents may wish to enjoy food when they and where choose to have it.

Our trained staff understand the importance of eating well and staying hydrated and supporting residents living with dementia to enjoy food in their environment – making food more visible through coloured crockery and more appealing whether it's pureed, finger foods or moulded.

Activities Are So Important

The team and residents at East Park Court feel very proud to be so well connected our local community.

Children from a primary school in Bilston frequently visit the home. They engage in many activities with our residents, from potting seeds to giving us sneak previews of special musical performances. Recently the residents had a front row seat to their Greatest Showman dance. They are also often invited to the school to take part in activities there.

We have two wonderful volunteers who come to East Park Court every week. One of our two ladies helps our mobile hairdresser with washing hair and making tea and coffee. Another helps out with activities and serving meals at lunch times.
