I’ve loved having the opportunity to open and commission Lonsdale Mews as a new home in 2020, and shape the great team we have.

As one of the biggest care home providers in the country, Care UK has an impressive track record of running outstanding-rated homes. The support the organisation provides so my team and I can deliver great care is impressive too.

Deputy Manager

I’m a Registered Mental Health Nurse and was a Dementia and Safeguarding Lead in a nursing home before I joined the Lonsdale Mews team. As a brand new home, Lonsdale Mews looked like an incredible place to work, and it offered exciting new opportunities.

Working with older people is incredibly rewarding, and my favourite part of the day is spending time with residents and their families, getting to know them. We’re a big home team, so it’s good to take time to get to know colleagues better too.

While being adept at all-things care-related is vital in this role, it’s also important to have strong communication and people skills. What we do is all about people, so I always aim to be approachable, open and fair.

Customer Relations Manager

I joined Care UK from working in a marketing and sales role in the retirement living sector.  To bring my experience and work at a  brand new care home for Care UK, one of the top care providers, was a fantastic opportunity. Lonsdale Mews is a stunning place to work and I am so proud to be part of an incredible team.

I’m passionate about the job I do here to support older people and their families to make the right decision about their care and lifestyle. It is important to understand that for some this can be a difficult and emotional journey. My aim is to meet people’s needs, remove anxiety about a loved one’s care and provide great service.

Business Administrator

Before working at Lonsdale Mews I was a PA in the finance department at Next head office. However, as a child, I spent a lot of time at a hospice with my brother, which showed me how important and amazing the care sector was. When an opportunity came up here that suited my skills, I was keen to apply.

I enjoy all aspects of my day: getting organised and ticking off the jobs while supporting colleagues, residents and their families in any way I can. Families are very often under a lot of pressure when they get in touch with us, and it’s important to be professional and friendly and allay their fears and worries.

Charlotte Bron
Charlotte Bron
Nurse Manager and Infection Prevention and Control Champion

I’m an experienced care home nurse, and have worked in the NHS, and I was working at another private care home before I made the move to Lonsdale Mews and Care UK. I was keen to join the team here because Care UK is an award-winning care provider with a superb reputation for delivering person-centred care, and for supporting its colleagues.

This is my first role as a Nurse Manager, and I’m very proud to have made the step up in my career. In this role it’s important to be caring, organised and courageous. I also aim to be supportive to my team so that they can do their best work.

I'm also the Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Champion. My role is vital to ensuring that colleagues at Lonsdale Mews maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness as this is fundamental to keeping residents, colleagues and visitors safe.

Magdalena Ligocka

Head Housekeeper

This is my first housekeeping role in the care sector – I used to work in hotels, student accommodation and hospitality – and I’m enjoying the new challenges involved.

As the Head Housekeeper I strive to deliver consistency. Attention to detail is all-important, and I aim to be passionate about everything I do – and to instil these values into my team. I like learning new things and achieving targets, and I always aim to improve what I – and the team as a whole – offer. I think a focus on ongoing improvement is particularly vital in a care home.

Every day is different at Lonsdale Mews and there’s always something to look forward to. There’s so much to learn about every resident we support, as well as about the many people who work here.

Maintenance

I’m experienced in care home maintenance and used to work in another private care home nearby. I enjoy the fact that working in a care home demands all sorts of different skills. You also never know what each day will bring. I like the variety and being kept on my toes. I also enjoy the feeling that I’m making a positive difference to older people’s lives.

There’s something very exciting about working in a brand new care home: there’s lots to learn about colleagues and residents, every opportunity to improve people’s quality of life, and to make Lonsdale Mews one of the best homes in Leicestershire.

Su Oneill

Lifestyle Coordinator

I joined Care UK and Lonsdale Mews because of the company’s reputation for putting residents first and tailoring their care to their interests and needs. Before I joined the team here I was Lifestyle Manager at another provider’s care home in the local area. I spent many years working with children, which taught me patience and imagination and the ability to communicate with people in different ways.

I love spending time with residents and making them laugh. They always surprise you, perhaps sharing a memory that they’d forgotten, or a past job that they did. It’s important to make activities person-centred: I once took a resident to a music festival so he could relive his time at the Glastonbury Festival. We’ve taken residents to see the Blackpool illuminations, which they loved. Whatever a resident would like to do, we’ll find a way to do it! The best thing is hearing them say they’ve had a great day – that’s when I know I’ve done my job well.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Food and dining play a big part in life. Our chef-led catering team will create delicious and nutritious meals from fresh ingredients and cater for all dietary, cultural and religious needs. They’ll learn your loved one’s likes and dislikes and menus will offer variety and choice every day.
