Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Since the early stages of the pandemic, our teams have been working to a pandemic plan which is updated regularly to reflect any changes to either UK or Scottish government guidance. This plan includes a range of measures aimed at both reducing the likelihood of new Covid-19 infections and reducing the spread of infections where they occur.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Air Filtration & Purification We are using air filtration and/or air purification devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

We are offering visits in our Covid-safe visiting suites.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

I joined the team in 2011 as a Care Assistant. I have been fortunate and grateful for the opportunities to progress to a Senior Care Assistant role and now more recently, the Assisted Living Coordinator. Not only have I progressed, but I have had the opportunity to gain my Health and Social Care level 5 qualification whilst in my senior role. My role as Assisted Living Coordinator is to oversee and ensure the highest quality of individualised care, and to ensure that our team members deliver care with compassion and respect. I’m looking forward to the new challenges ahead and continuing my Journey to support individuals, team members and families here at Llys Cyncoed.

As Reminiscence Coordinator I am privileged to be able to assist people living with dementia on a daily basis . I have been working in the reminiscence neighbourhood at Llys Cyncoed for six years, and was part of the Cardiff team that won the Best Dementia Team at the Dementia Awards in 2014. It is great to work with such a loving team and really strive to provide excellent person-centred care and really promote the ethos of seeing the person not the dementia.
