Verity Walmsley is Manager at Gibraltar Nursing Home.
I am the Registered Manager at Gibraltar Nursing Home, where I have had the privilege of working for almost six years. My vision is to create a culture where excellent care goes hand in hand with genuine human connection. I am passionate about supporting our team to deliver care that they can be proud of, while creating an environment where everyone feels safe, comfortable and truly at home. After almost six years at Gibraltar, I feel very fortunate that a role that began during such an uncertain time led me to a place that I now consider to be such an important part of my life. I am proud of the home we continue to build together and, most importantly, of the people who make Gibraltar what it is — our family members, their families and our dedicated team.
Gibraltar Nursing Home is a purpose-built, nursing and residential home, set on a hillside in Monmouth, with views across the Kymin and Wye Valley.
Facilities include a restaurant, cinema, hair salon, garden and terraces, to name just some of the on-site services available.
Gibraltar specialises in dementia care and has a team of care staff who strive to deliver high-quality care to all residents at the home through personalised care plans and a varied programme of activities and events at the home. Activities in the home include a weekly gardening club, cooking and baking, painting and crafting workshops, and music sessions.
Gibraltar’s approach to life recognises the values, beliefs and identity of each person. Each person that may need our support is unique and by understanding one’s life history, one’s journey in life, by striving to be a true continuation of home, we create a place where everyone feels safe and never alone.
