Rebecca Blackburn is Manager at The Craven Nursing Home.

Hi my name is Rebecca, I joined Craven Nursing Home in January 2022 following the previous long term manager retiring.

I am a qualified nurse and have successfully run nursing homes for a number of years, having achieved an “Outstanding” rating with the Care Quality Commission.

I am so proud to have joined Craven Nursing Home. The staff, residents and relatives have been so welcoming. Craven is a lovely home and plays an important role in the local community. I am proud to be part of such a warm, welcoming, and caring team

My passion is providing outstanding care and support to all our residents, their loved ones and the staff team.  I look forward to helping Craven go from strength to strength and continue to deliver high standards of king dignified and compassionate care and providing excellent support for our hardworking staff team.

At The Craven we aim to deliver compassionate, exceptional care in a safe friendly environment. We want our residents to relax, socialise and live as independently as possible whilst receiving the very best person-centred care.

Our 65 rooms all have en-suite facilities and are light and spacious. They are stylishly decorated throughout and we encourage our residents to personalise their rooms to make them as homely as possible. Our lounges and day rooms are large, comfortable spaces with social interaction in mind.

We are fortunate to sit in a beautiful location by the canal, with lots of wildlife to see and generous grounds to be able to enjoy fresh air.

We are able to cater for those who need nursing care and are able to support with palliative care needs.  We also have a specialist dementia care community with its own enclosed garden area.

I am a qualified Mental Health Nurse having completed my Nursing Degree in Wales. I have a range of experience working initially in specialist mental health services, domiciliary care/supported living and specialist learning disability services before moving across to the aged care sector. I have experience in Home Management, Senior Operations Management and Quality and Compliance roles.

I am extremely passionate about good quality kind care and promoting positive wellbeing for residents and ensuring that we go the extra mile for people living in our care homes. I am also motivated to ensure that we have well supported, highly skilled and valued staff teams who can deliver excellence in our care homes.

I have experience of dementia both from a personal and professional perspective and am a qualified Dementia Care Mapper.

Hi, my name is Steph. I am the Deputy Manager at Craven Nursing Home. I have worked here for over 18 years, starting as a Care Assistant, and once I completed my nurse training, to being a Nurse on both days and nights, and latterly Clinical Lead on Nights. I worked at Harrogate District Hospital for a short time between 2009-2010, where I worked on an Acute Elderly ward before returning to my love of Nursing Home care.

My passion is Palliative/End of Life Care, delivering Person-Centred Care, in a very respectful and dignified way to our residents and support to our relatives.

I am undertaking my Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care.

We have very experienced and very caring members of staff at Craven and I am proud to be part of our fantastic team.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Mealtimes are an important part of daily life, our chefs carefully prepare a different menu for each day of the week to ensure there is lots of variety for our residents to enjoy. All our meals are freshly prepared in-house allowing our chefs to create delicious, nutritionally balanced meals. We are used to catering for a variety of dietary preferences and our chefs work hard to satisfy residents’ needs.

Activities Are So Important

We extend a warm welcome to family and friends to visit at any time, attend special events and to be a part of the home. At Craven Nursing Home we want you to be able to enjoy the things that are important to you. Our experienced Activities Team actively encourage and support residents to pursue their own interests and hobbies.

A varied calendar of activities ranging from musical entertainment, arts and crafts, table games and coffee mornings is provided along with seasonal events and entertainment. Our annual summer garden party is a firm favourite with our residents. Organised outings are planned throughout the year with a few reoccurring popular events such as our boat trip on the Leeds to Liverpool canal and a tour of the Christmas lights in Skipton and Ilkley.

In addition, our team is involved in an innovative scheme which will see care homes from across the Craven district working together to enhance the social opportunities available for our residents.
