Meet The Manager

Solomon Vanderpuye is Manager at Coppermill Care Centre.

Working at Coppermill Care is such a splendid and sensational experience. The culture of inclusion we foster amongst the service users, families and staff allows us to promote and provide a great atmosphere for everyone to enjoy.

The home welcomes visitors and families and works hard to make their voices heard. Our aim is to listen, action and improve our services to maintain the wellbeing of our residents.

At Coppermill Care we value each individuals needs to ensure they always feel at “home away from home”.

Above all, the best part of my day is meeting the residents and staff each day and shaking their hands! Their joy means so much to me.

We put the health, happiness and wellbeing of every resident at the heart of the service we offer.

Coppermill is working within the government guidelines to help protect its staff and clients.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

As a purpose-built care home, Coppermill Care provides a range of communal spaces which are designed to encourage people to interact and enjoy each other’s company. As well as dedicated activity areas, where residents can get together to take part in a host of planned activities, we also have two spacious lounges and one dining room on the ground floor and a further two lounges and one dining area on the first floor.

One of our popular spaces is our Country Pub Themed “Hideaway” lounge. For those who like to look their best, we also have a hairdressing salon. We also provide a kitchenette facility on each floor so that residents and their visitors can make beverages and snacks.

Our secluded rear gardens are home to a decked area, where our residents enjoy soaking up the sunshine or enjoying a spot of gardening, for those who are able.

Description

The bedrooms at Coppermill Care are designed to provide people with a sense of privacy, comfort, and safety. Each room is decorated in a modern yet homely style and finished to a high standard.

Residents are encouraged to personalise their room by decorating it with their own possessions such as pictures, photos, ornaments and other personal items. Although all rooms are fully furnished, some residents like to bring in small items of their own furniture. We actively encourage this. It can help people to settle in, enhance their sense of identity and be particularly useful for those with dementia. It can also provide useful and important talking points for the staff to engage people in meaningful conversation.

Activities Are So Important

We encourage everyone to maintain the friendships, hobbies and interests they had before moving to Coppermill Care. Residents are encouraged to engage in choosing activities and letting us know what they want to do. As a result, our activities are very varied, from a quite game of scrabble or cards, sharing memories over photos, or crafting, to pamper days, theme nights, fetes and entertainers from the local community. We help to support this by ensuring that each resident has a personalised activity plan, with activities of their choice.

Keeping active is key to helping residents to maintain life skills, support independence and contribute to both physical and mental wellbeing. Many of our residents thrive on opportunities for social interaction with fellow residents, friends and family and the local community.

Our Activities Coordinators are skilled at planning enjoyable, stimulating activities including bowling, music and movement and bingo, as well as beauty-therapy and board games. We also support people who want to go shopping or out for a drink
