Meet The Manager

Karen Francis is General Manager at Cookridge Court.

Hi, my name is Karen, and I am the General Manager here at Cookridge Court.

I joined the home in January 2018. The first part of my career was spent with the NHS as a trauma nurse and nurse manager. I moved into the private sector in 2010 ago and have enjoyed every second since then. The provision of gold standard care to our residents is my passion and, here at Cookridge Court, we strive to deliver this every single day. I believe it is a privilege to be able to work with such a conscientious, caring and compassionate team who never fail to put the residents first.

Dementia Care
The home's specialist Memory Lane Community utilises a careful blend of skills and techniques developed by leading experts in the field of dementia care, incorporating person-centred design in its use of colour and cues to help individuals navigate through the home, whilst thoughtful interior design features, such us adapted crockery and tableware assists with reminiscence. Communities are broken up into separate units with a family feel so people can feel safe and comfortable. Care is focused on independence, dignity and choice, with a person-centred approach. Activities Are So Important

We understand that the people we support have passions and interests that could be difficult to pursue after moving into a care home – but that doesn’t mean we don’t encourage them to try! Some hobbies can define a person, so our Activities Coordinators are dedicated to ensuring that everyone we support is able to do what makes them happy to the best of their abilities. Social events are organised with individual tastes in mind and with the idea that residents have the opportunity to try new and exciting things.
