Meet The Manager

Rachel Bedford is General Manager at Sway Place.

I have a wealth of experience to share with my team from previous Home Manager roles, and I have been working in the care sector for over 20 years. The team here at Sway Place are passionate and caring, and strive to deliver high standards of personalised care to all our residents, enabling residents to live enriched and purposeful lives in a homely environment. Rachel Bedford

Sway Place is a stunning purpose-built care home that delivers an exceptional level of care and a luxury lifestyle to all residents. There are separate 'households' in the home and in addition, for those residents who want to live independently, there are cottages within the beautiful grounds where residents can live more independently whilst also enjoying all the benefits and facilities of the main home.

The home offers superb facilities for residents including the Jubilee Restaurant, the Tea Palace, plus The Willow Room - a private dining room which families and friends can book for special occasions, a hair and beauty salon, Ella’s Bar - a bar which is open every day before lunch, activity rooms and several lounges to spend time with family and friends. The home is in a beautiful setting in the village of Sway, with mature landscaped gardens.

The dedicated team provide professional, compassionate care to residents and Sway Place offers a safe, welcoming community.

Respite Care Yes

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

All Care UK homes now have purpose-built internal or external visiting suites available which enable visits to take place from behind a sealed glass panel, using a sound system to assist with communication. Where Government guidance and local health teams allow, these suites make it possible to continue visiting even when we have a case of Covid-19 in the home.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Wireless Internet access (WiFi)

Yes, our care home has WiFi in all our resident’s rooms.

Mobile Phone Network Coverage (mobile “signal”)

Our care home has mobile phone signal in some of our residents’ rooms.

Telephone for external calling

No, our care home does not provide a telephone in residents’ rooms.

Social media provides an up to date window on the activities within a provider's setting.

With the restrictions on visiting during the pandemic, social media platforms such as these offer real insight when you are choosing a provider.

Colin
Resident Ambassador

Born in Barry, South Wales, he was married to his late wife, Jean for a staggering 73 years. Sadly, Jean suffered from Alzheimer's and, in Colin's own words, "living through this emotional journey with my loved one has given me great insight and enabled me to offer support to others who maybe going through similar situations". Colin's caring nature and empathy for others makes him the perfect choice when welcoming and reassuring new residents into the home. One of Colin's fondest memories is the support of the team in getting behind his Cancer Research UK fundraising efforts which resulted in him raising an incredible £3,000. Colin is also involved in the recruitment process, as he is able to offer an invaluable view of the needs and wishes of the residents in the home. Colin reports this as "an amazing place to live, where I continue to lead an active and fulfilled life. The staff are wonderful, their kindness shines through and they are always on hand to help 24/7.
