Meet The Manager

Sally Cooper is Home manager at Deewater Grange.

I’ve worked for Care UK for many years. I joined Pinetum, another of its Chester care homes, in 2007 as a general nurse and was later promoted to senior nurse. After a couple of years away, I returned to the home as Deputy Manager in 2015 and became Home Manager in 2016.

I enjoy working in care homes. As a nurse, you can build relationships with the people you’re caring for and their families in a way that’s just not possible in a hospital setting where people come and go. I love the fact that we’re making a big difference to people’s lives and we get to see the evidence of that.

It’s a privilege to now be leading a brand new home for Care UK in Chester – Deewater Grange. I’m passionate about the potential of this stunning new home and of how we can make a difference to residents’ lives.

Victoria Williams - Beeby
Victoria Williams - Beeby
Deputy Home Manager

I’m a Registered General Nurse and was working in a private nursing home in Wales before I joined the Deewater Grange team in early 2020. I joined the home because the Care UK ethos of putting residents at the heart of everything echoed my own personal values.
I enjoy the mornings best at Deewater Grange. I check that every resident is okay and I’ll have a chat with them before getting on with the rest of my day. It’s a great start to the day. The best part of my role is being able to work closely with colleagues, residents and their families to enable the people we care for to live a fulfilling, independent life.
Swimming plays a big part in my, and my family’s, life. I unwind by swimming each day. We attend swimming galas up and down the country at the weekends.

Customer Relations Manager

While I’m new to the care sector (I’ve spent 20 years in the finance sector, including 12 years as a manager in a high street bank), I’ve experienced what it’s like to have a loved one live with dementia. I’ve been through the emotions and the process of trying to find suitable care. So when I was looking for a new career challenge, I was keen to help families who were in the same situation.

This role demands a combination of strengths, from being financially focused to having great communication skills. You have to network with stakeholders in the community and be supportive of families who are going through a very stressful time. You create a bond with families doing this job. When they smile after being anxious and upset, it can melt your heart.

It’s a privilege to be part of the Deewater Grange story from the beginning. As well as being a member of a great team in a stunning care home, I’ll be part of every resident’s journey with us.

Denise Owen

Head Chef

I’m an experienced care sector head chef. Before joining the Deewater Grange team in January 2020 I’d spent ten years heading up the catering at another care home. The chance to be part of a new team in a brand new home was an opportunity that I couldn’t miss. The resident-centred culture that Care UK has also really appealed to me.

I think it’s vital that we always remember the reason why we’re here is the residents. It’s the job of me and my team to ensure that residents are enjoying their favourite dishes, cooked in the way they like them and that their meals meet their nutritional needs.

Paige Mort

Business Administrator

I moved to Care UK in 2015 because it was a large and successful company with a good reputation. I worked in one of the organisation’s established care homes in Chester before moving to Deewater Grange when it opened in 2020.

This is a very busy role, so good organisational skills are a must. I enjoy being methodical and completing tasks, so I’m in the right job! It also helps to be good with technology, as there are lots of systems to learn. Lastly, being approachable and friendly with relatives and residents is a must too.

I love the beautiful, modern surroundings of Deewater Grange, and that there’s so much here for residents to enjoy. I’m personally enjoying getting to know my colleagues, as well as our residents and their families.

Maintenance

I’d been working in the plumbing trade for several years before I was offered this role at Deewater Grange. I was over the moon to join the team because Care UK has such a great reputation.

I like the fact that no two days are the same at our Chester care home. It keeps me on my toes! Also being able to make a difference to an older person’s life, even in a small way, is a great feeling.

These are exciting times at Deewater Grange as we welcome more new residents, and develop the home. I’m looking forward to the challenges ahead and to learning and progressing as part of a fantastic team.

Registered General Nurse and Infection Prevention and Control Champion

The Infection Prevention & Control (IPC) Champion’s role is to establish and maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness so that residents and colleagues in the home are kept safe. They ensure that all colleagues are well trained in infection control and are on hand to ensure the team are working to the highest standards.

Mabel
Mabel
Canine Relations Manager

Hi everyone, I'm Mabel. I'm four years old and my white and fluffy appearance is due to me being a Chorkie - that is, a Chihuahua crossed with a Yorkshire Terrier.

You can find me around the home during the week when I'm available for treat eating and trick performing. I can sit, lie down, high five and roll over. If you've got the treats, I've got the tricks!

Mine is the best job you can have at Deewater Grange. I get to meet and greet visitors and I let residents make a fuss of me whenever they like. I also like to sit in on new staff interviews. What that really means is I like to sit on new staff in interviews. I'm here to make sure that new team members will love the residents as much as I do!

The Importance Of Meal Times

Our chef-led team understands the importance of nutrition and hydration to health and wellbeing in later life. Despite social distancing, meal times at Montfort Manor are a social occasion. Residents enjoy getting together in our attractive dining rooms. Alternatively, in-room dining is available if your loved one would prefer, or need, additional distancing. Our catering team uses fresh ingredients to create delicious and nutritious hot and cold menu choices, all tailored to your loved one’s personal tastes, diet and cultural needs. Snacks and drinks are available day and night, and every resident is treated to a home-baked birthday cake – of a flavour of their choosing, of course.
