Rebecca Rudman is Home Manager at Broomcroft House Care Home.
I have been managing nursing and residential care homes for five years and joined Broomcroft House in March 2024.
I started working as a care assistant in 2008 and worked my way up to become a home manager. I have Level 5 in health and social care management and have previously worked as a dementia coach.
I have a passion for elderly care and promoting people’s dignity and respect. I want to leave work at the end of the day knowing I’ve made a positive difference to somebody’s day.
Broomcroft House warmly welcomes residents in need of nursing or residential care, including those living with dementia or Parkinson’s. Its highly professional team is also experienced in palliative, convalescence and respite care. The home consists of two two-storey houses that both have well-furnished sitting rooms, spacious dining rooms and bedrooms with en-suite facilities. The lower floor is specially adapted for those with physical frailties and there is good wheelchair access throughout. Residents’ individual food preferences are incorporated into daily menus and discussed with individuals shortly after their arrival. There is always a choice of hot and cold dishes and snacks and drinks are available throughout the day. The activity programme is arranged to suit all personal interests and some residents have set up their own painting and knitting clubs. Days out and organised excursions also feature.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
