Joby James is Home Manager at Avon Lodge Care Home.
I enjoy making a difference in people's lives by providing person-centred care and treating residents with respect and dignity. As a registered nurse with NVQ 4 and 5 qualifications in health and social care, I have 15 years of experience managing care homes.
Avon Lodge is a modern and spacious home located in Kingswood, Bristol. The home is easily accessible by major road routes and public transport.
Experienced registered nurses and care assistants, selected for their skills operate a 24 hour service, delivering a high standard of nursing care to suit the individual. An experienced Manager and Deputy Manager supervises the day to day running of the home and ensures that the care delivered encompasses social, physical, psychological and environmental needs.
Residents are very welcome to bring personal possessions, such as a favourite table, pictures, a chair and ornaments. There are a variety of lounge areas, some with TV’s or music where residents can entertain family and friends and some for more quiet enjoyment.
Visitors are welcome at any time, to our ‘home from home’. Meals can be taken in one of the dining rooms or in the privacy of their own room. Laundry services are provided by our housekeeping team.
Avon Lodge is situated in the town of Kingswood, in South Gloucestershire. It has much to offer with a range of local attractions and places to visit whilst the city centre is only 10 minutes away.
Kingswood is ideally placed close to the surrounding areas of Bath, Bristol, Somerset and The Cotswolds so there is something to suit everyone. Explore the market town, historic buildings, shops and parks such as Southey Park, located opposite the home. Many of our residents grew up in the area and this park has some significant memories of children playing football and walking their dogs.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
