Meet The Manager

Deborah Skinner is General Manager at The Lodge.

The Lodge has given me huge insight into the frailties of the older person, and my qualifications as an RN and a psychologist serve me well with potentially 62 residents and 106 staff.

I entered the elderly care almost 20 years ago and until I joined Elizabeth Finn Homes I didn’t realise that managing a care home was so rewarding and could be fun and immensely interesting in so many ways. Although my role was mostly clinical in the past, it has evolved into a largely business role which allows me to maintain my clinical skills. I would have fine tuned this dual role earlier if I was starting out again.

My most influential mentors have to be my residents past and current, who guide and shape everything I do. Their experiences all go into the mix to give me and my staff, a snapshot of very different lives. I have continued mentoring from the senior team at EFHL who allow me to flourish in my work. My husband is of course my best mentor and critic!

Located on Spicer Road close to the centre of Exeter, The Lodge is an elegant Victorian house standing in an acre of landscaped gardens and offers a home from home for discerning guests who appreciate the comfort, quality and exceptional care that we offer.

Each person is individually assessed regarding their care need and the fee is set with the General Manager based on that assessment and the room chosen. Fees are reviewed annually.

Quality is at the heart of everything we do. Our homes provide all of the equipment and facilities that one would expect from a modern day care facility, and more. Our capital investment programme, coupled with industry-leading staffing levels, provide a level of service and quality that is truly exceptional.

The Lodge provides the full range of services and facilities, including award-winning restaurant-style dining, generously-sized bedroom with en suite facilities, landscaped gardens, a beauty salon and a fully-licensed bar.
