I’ve worked for John Whitgift Foundation since 1995, my role is to look after all the gardens in Whitgift care. Every day is different I can be mowing the grass, weeding, or planting up flower beds or in the autumn clearing up leaves!

I love the variety and changing seasons each one brings a new challenge! It’s also nice to see the residents enjoying the garden – many of them were keen gardeners themselves and appreciate what goes into a garde

Activities Are So Important

It’s vital we keep our minds and bodies active as we get older. Not only to bring a little joy and novelty to every day, but to make sure we keep hold of our mental and physical faculties for as long as possible.

Our homes have a dedicated activities team who ensures that every person we care for does at least one thing each day that they enjoy.

Our nursing care and respite care residents might enjoy playing backgammon with staff, listening to records together with other residents, or taking a daily walk around the grounds: whatever that individual needs to help keep them active.
