Westlands Care Home - Care Home
Meet The Manager

Helen Brown is Manager at Westlands Care Home.

Choosing a care home for a loved one is never easy. Having worked in care since 1979, I know that trust, kindness and family values are at the heart of good care. At Westlands, we get to know each resident as an individual, helping them feel safe, valued, listened to and truly at home. Our team offers the same respect, compassion and warmth we would want for our own family.

Helen Brown

Westlands is a privately owned residential care home, run by an established team of dedicated, trained and experienced care professionals, with the owner also at the home most days.

The majority of the staff at Westlands are full time employees and this has created a strong and caring connection between our staff members and our residents, who feel more at ease with familiar faces, with our staff able to really get to know each resident’s individual needs.

We also have a high ratio of staff to residents, which allows our team to spend more time one-to-one, helping with activities and joining residents at meal times, creating a very warm, relaxed, family atmosphere.

Management describes the Westlands ethos and approach: “Everyone deserves dignity and respect and we see that as a vital part of our training and care. We have a very caring team who treat our residents as they would their own parents and how they would wish to be treated themselves. We also recognise and honour our residents’ individuality and their need to keep in place their own routines, such as getting up and going to bed when they want and deciding what they want to eat.”

All the staff at Westlands take part in an on-going programme of training and we actively seek feedback from residents, their families and visiting professionals.

Our Building and Facilities

Westlands is approached through elegant electronic wrought-iron gates into a car parking area with ample space for numerous visitors’ cars.

The light, spacious open-plan reception areas lead into one another – from the downstairs lounge, into a light, bright dining area and then into a large conservatory, overlooking the gardens, plus a second conservatory which also enjoys views across the gardens.

Residents also have the opportunity for some pampering in the on-site hairdressing and beauty salon, with regular visits from the hairdresser, manicurist and chiropodist – and visits from the optician, dentist and GP.

There’s more pampering and relaxation for residents with the spa bath, hoist-assisted baths and wet room. Our passenger lift and chair lift are also available to those with limited mobility.

Our residents have been involved in the planning of the landscaped gardens, which they can enjoy throughout the year, providing the perfect place for a gentle stroll, to watch the wildlife or to sit with friends and family. Raised flower beds are full of scented herbs and flowers and there is also a water feature.
