Sue Hill is General Manager at Wellington Vale Care Home.

What I do:
I am the General Manager of Wellington Vale, as such I have the overall responsibility of the home with the support from my team. My role can vary from day to day and no two days are ever the same

My experience:
I have been working in the care industry for over 30 years, starting as a care assistant then going back to further education to become a manager first for Suffolk County Council and then into the private sector. I have a passion for Dementia care and hold an advanced Dementia training qualification in addition I have a Dementia mapping qualification which I undertook with Bradford University.

About me:
I am 55 and have been married for over 30 years to Adrian a teacher, I have two sons Tim and Tom both currently studying at university. I am a highly competitive person who likes to succeed. I love to shop and find a bargain!

Established in November 2016, Wellington Vale is a luxurious, purpose-built care home that offers 80 spacious en-suite rooms in a luxurious, safe and welcoming home environment. In addition to expert 24-hour care, we provide a wide variety of engaging activities and outings to keep our residents stimulated, connected and happy.

Situated between the village of Denmead and the vibrant, growing town of Waterlooville, Wellington Vale overlooks miles of ancient countryside. What I do:
I am the Support Services Manager of Wellington Vale, responsible for the hospitality departments in the home. Since joining this amazing team at Cinnamon my daily aim is to deliver the best person centred care to all our residents and daily to see the smiles on residents faces as they feel at home in our Care Homes.

My Experience:
I’ve been living in UK for 7 years now progressing my career as Hospitality Services Manager that forms part of the Support Services Function. I work closely with the Care & Quality Team and I absolutely love what I do, helping to consistently deliver an outstanding service that the residents deserve.

Activities Coordinator

I am the Activity Co-ordinator at Wellington Vale, and my role is to compose activities and events for the residents that are inclusive, enjoyable and exciting. I liaise within the local community, arranging community events within the home and visits to outside events too – this helps to promote a social network for our residents. My role includes activity plans based on well-being, mental stimulation, physical well-being and, of course, the most important ingredient: fun.

I am a qualified teacher and trainer with many years’ experience organising events and charity fundraisers. I have worked in care in the community and been a Carer. I have acquired skills from many areas including hospitality, customer support, finance and administration. The most recent was an entertainment company I set up which required creativity, planning and organisational skills.

What I do:

As Home Admissions Advisor my main responsibility is to guide both residents and their families through the difficult decision and process of deciding on a Residential Care Home that best suites each individuals needs. I take great pride in ensuring that Wellington Vale offers the best choice in terms of Care Options, Activities and Entertainment, Daily Menu, beautifully appointed rooms and a welcoming team. I am always happy to support the residents, the families and the team at Wellington Vale.

My Experience:

My career began in the Hospitality industry and then expanded into Events, Marketing, Sales and PR. Prior to joining Wellington Vale, Cinnamon Care Collection I worked within the Private Ambulance Sector for over a decade as a Registered manager.

What I do:
I am the Head Chef here at Wellington Vale my role is to provide a nutritional balanced diet to our residents with the odd sneaky treat thrown in.
I liaise with our residents with likes and dislikes even if that person wants something different to what’s on the menu, we will do our utmost to make it possible.
My team and I aim to please and provide a whole dining experience.

My experience:
I have been a chef for almost 30 years predominantly within the Royal Navy feeding personnel on ships and land with a couple members of the royal family thrown in for good measure. Competed in BBC’s MasterChef: The Professionals in 2010, Lead Chef for HRH The Queen’s lunch onboard HMS Ark Royal, Lead Chef for HRH Duke of Edinburgh’s 90th Birthday Lunch and recently was awarded Cinnamon Care Collection Chef of The Year 2019.

From the quality of the fresh, locally sourced ingredients and nutritional balance to the attractive presentation, we’re there to listen and make sure that each meal feels like something special, not an afterthought.

Relax and enjoy yourself in our sociable residents’ dining rooms or take an active part preparing food in our life skill kitchens. Enjoy a healthy snack in the comfort of your en-suite room. Catch up with guests or fellow residents over a tasty treat in our comfortable lounges and cheery cafés. Residents can join in with a host of activities from popular ‘ZING!’ exercise sessions to our Nerf gun balloon firing range, which is not only fun but improves hand-eye co-ordination, cognitive reactions and physical dexterity. The sheer joy of the people playing is just the icing on the cake.
