Anglian Care COVID-19 Statement

Anglian Care is keeping fully abreast of developments relating to the continued spread of Coronavirus (COVID-19) across the UK and Ireland. We are routinely monitoring developments, reviewing our protocols, and preparing appropriate responses as the situation evolves. Anglian Care is committed to ensuring all steps are taken to protect the health and wellbeing of all our colleagues and customers.

Just as we have done previously in preparation for and during virus outbreaks, Anglian Care continues to work closely with Health Authorities, UKHCA/Scottish Care and Care Regulators in order to protect colleagues and customers and maintain service delivery. Every Anglian Care office is keeping their Business Continuity Plans under review in preparation for a possible escalation of the outbreak.

Advice for prevention

At the time of writing this notice, there has been a number of cases reported in the UK and this number is steadily rising. However, as with any other virus, the best way to prevent infection and spread is to avoid being exposed to it. You can help to prevent the spread of any respiratory outbreak by doing the following:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
  • Always wash your hands when you get home or into work
  • Use hand sanitiser gel if soap and water are not available
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the bin straight away, or sneeze into the bend of your elbow, then wash your hands.
  • Avoid close contact with persons who have respiratory illness symptoms.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
  • If you are unwell, stay at home and contact the 111 Coronavirus helpline (valid in all countries of the UK)
  • If you are asked to self-isolate please follow the NHS Advice
  • If a member of staff has a positive confirmed diagnosis of Coronavirus the local Anglian Care office will prepare a list of all customers and staff the affected person has been in contact with for at least the preceding 14 days and report this to the 111 Coronavirus helpline.

Travel

For those who need to travel, please stay current with COVID-19 developments and travel advice found at the Gov.uk website. Exercise caution while traveling, practice the above prevention points.

As epidemics/pandemics can change quickly and unpredictably, it will be important to stay updated on the latest Anglian Care information regarding COVID-19. It is our intent to not overload you with information, but we will make regular updates as and when necessary.

    The Importance Of Meal Times

Mealtimes in a homecare setting are often a highlight of the day. Eating is an enjoyable activity if the surroundings and atmosphere are pleasant, especially if the food is of good quality and people are able to choose their favourite meals from a menu that offers sufficient choice. Being offered such choice is a key element in living well with dignity.

Having nutritious, well-planned meals is an important part of supporting the health of those we care for.

Afternoon Tea, All day snacks, Breakfast, Dinner, Lunch, Cold Meals, Hot Meals, Snacks.

    Dietary Options

    Activities Are So Important

Physical activities provide the foundation for all other forms of senior wellness. A sedentary lifestyle during the senior years can lead to greater susceptibility to injury, higher incidence of obesity, cardiovascular problems, and a number of other serious diseases. Oppositely, persons who continue to stay active into their senior years decrease the risk of these adverse conditions. Additionally, senior physical activity decreases the risk of stroke, cancers, type 2 diabetes, depression, and dementia. It also arrests the deterioration of overall health and allows seniors to maintain their independence longer.

Depending on preference and ability, activities such as dancing, walking, hiking, and swimming are enormously beneficial to persons over 65 years of age.

For many older people, their beloved dog or cat is often their closest companion, so parting with their pet to when receiving homecare alone can be hugely traumatic and akin to a bereavement. However, many home care services do welcome pets and will allow you to bring your pet with you so it is a case of finding the right pet-friendly care home for you. People have been known to keep cats, guide dogs, hamsters, rabbits, even their own chickens when receiving home care. Staff can even help you to care for your pet, get supplies and take it to the vet.

Anglian Care accepts all service users' with pets and we are able to care for them in conjunction with your care plan.
