The home was purpose built in 1992 and purchased by Ashmere in 1997. The property was extended in 2008. It has 61 bedrooms, 59 single rooms, 51 of which benefit from en-suite facilities. There are also 2 double rooms, 2 with en-suite available. The home is currently being refurbished, and now offers premium rooms, offering the highest quality of decor and comfort.

Valley Lodge’s dementia household is devoted to the care of residents with dementia, called Valley Views. This was awarded the Derbyshire County Council Dementia Standard Award in 2015, the first home to receive the award. Our specialist household provides a safe and secure environment with only twelve residents, allowing the very best care to be delivered by staff. As the 3rd generation of my family to work at Ashmere I have grown up within different care homes so there was never really a question of what I would do as I got older.

I always feel immensely proud when I receive complements about our staff individually or generally about the care being provided. However, I do particularly remember a mother and daughter who lived with us for a long number of years before passing away within a year or so of each other. At both funerals the families gratitude towards the staff was humbling, and to hear what a transformation they had seen in their loved ones whilst they were with us was a real joy.
