Meet The Manager

Julia Davey is Services Manager at Sydmar Lodge.

The home manager at Sydmar Lodge is supported by a cohesive staff team. Each member of staff is dedicated to providing the best quality of care to all residents whilst also promoting a fun and enjoyable living experience.

Sydmar Lodge is a lovely residential care home in the heart of Edgware and the local Mill Hill community.

Sydmar Lodge provides bespoke care and support for people over the age of 65. The home offers residential, respite and dementia care and is aimed primarily at people from the Jewish community. We provide personalised care based on people’s choices, needs and wishes. Having said this, Sydmar Lodge is a Jewish home that is very flexible and welcomes everyone regardless of religious observance. We prefer to leave it up to residents to follow the level of observance according to personal and family traditions.

It is close to shops, public transport and amenities.
There is a warm and homely feel with facilities to enjoy the highest possible quality of life – truly a “home from home”.

Sydmar Lodge is a wonderful place to reflect upon the past with pride and joy, whilst looking into the future with confidence and hope.

Our care team is always around, providing as much or as little help required, giving our residents and their families’ confidence and completing peace of mind.

Our care team is always around, providing as much or as little help required, giving our residents and their families’ confidence and completing peace of mind.

We have a team of dedicated carers who are trained in helping when residents need assistance and boosting their confidence to do things independently wherever possible.

We are always there for our residents. We work out an agreed care plan, regularly reviewed to ensure we meet your expectations and to address any changes when necessary.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Meal times are an important part of the day at Sydmar Lodge. Table service in the dining room is standard for mealtimes and we are happy to serve meals elsewhere, including breakfast in bed. Afternoon tea in the garden is a regular treat in fine weather and this can easily be arranged for family and friends.

Our experienced catering staff prepare a varied menu of home-cooked food every day and we observe traditional Jewish meal customs including the Sabbath as well as cooking, preparing and serving food that is Kosher.

We boast a fully equipped milk and meat kitchen with full time dedicated chefs and staff preparing delicious meals including during festivals. At all meals, there is a choice of dishes and our chefs will be pleased to make residents’ favourites and individual preferences.

We are able to cater for medical diets including people with diabetes, low salt and allergies. Table and in-room dining is standard and meals are a principal social activity and it is important they are enjoyed. We welcome regular feedback to ensure the quality remains consistent.

Activities Are So Important

We aim to empower residents to make their own choices about how they live their lives. We believe that every individual, irrespective of their physical, social or psychological condition has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and supported to maintain choice and control over their own lives.

We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences. We know that this information is essential to ensure a tailored care package for each individual’s specific needs, particularly for those with memory loss.

We have established strong links with the local community and residents enjoy regular visits from schools and charity groups and also regular input from the local people with Rabbi Schochet from a nearby Mill Hill synagogue, who is also designated as the Residents’ Independent Advocate.

We organise activities on a regular basis which our residents are very welcome to take part in.  We also go out on excursions and recently we went for a visit to The Ritz hotel.
