Seung Ping Riggs is Care Home Manager at St Katharine's House.

Seung Ping has been the manager of St Katharine’s Care Home since 2018. She aims to develop the team while transmitting Gold Care Homs's core values to each individual to build a strong foundation and continually improve the quality of care they provide. Seung Ping won Gold Care's Care Home Manager of the Year Award 2020 and continues to strive forward leading her team from the front.

Seung has been able to enhance her leadership capabilities and has allowed her to learn from her staff, residents, and their families. The role is highly dynamic which means every day brings forth new challenges allowing the team at St Katharine's to adapt and improve over time.

The home gives Seung Ping the opportunity to share her clinical knowledge and give the members of our community a dignified and enjoyable stay here at St Katharine's.

St Katharine’s offers first class care for residents over 65 set in picturesque ground of five acres.  Located conveniently near Wantage Shopping Centre, which is regularly used by shopping trips by our residents, the home benefits from many local attractions. Each one of our residents enjoys unique, personalised care, built around them and designed to make their stay with us as enjoyable and fulfilling as possible.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Gold Care Homes remains committed to ensuring all of our residents, loved ones, and hardworking members of staff are protected against the COVID-19 pandemic. All Gold Care Homes’ homes completed their second round of vaccinations. Our care homes have now begun the process of offering the booster vaccine to all residents.

The legislation makes vaccination mandatory for anyone who works in a care home, whatever their role. All care home residents will now be required to nominate up to 3 visitors who can enter the care home for regular visits. Visits must still be pre-booked, and visitors must test negative for COVID-19 at the start of the visit.

We take as much care of our staff as we do of our residents. Delivering excellent care is key at Gold Care Homes. It motivates the way we invest, train and measure staff wellbeing. This ensures our entire workforce is fully engaged and is driving towards our corporate goals.

We are active in pursuing a fully dedicated workforce and monitor the feedback of our staff through an annual Health and Happiness survey. After all, a happy workforce provides a happy service! We use a range of corporate initiatives to support staff engagement levels including: involving our staff when developing individual care home strategies, investment in training and development, identifying future stars in the business as well as regular social events. We recently launched our very own Dragons Dens style ideas forum, where staff, residents and their families can present their ideas to promote efficiency and improve the experience of our residents.

To us, each and every resident is an individual. Each has his or her own life story. Each has their own likes and dislikes. Each has their own way of living. All of our residents enjoy their own care plan, tailored specifically for them. This allows us to build their care around their preferences, lifestyles and routines. It’s all part of our philosophy to see the person for who they are, not masked by age or condition. Everything we do is driven by this genuinely caring, person-centred approach.

Our Activities Co-ordinators play a fundamental part in delivering our mission of enhancing the lives of our residents by creating a fun and hugely varied program for everyone to participate. A great source of fun and laughter, our range of activities really help each resident live their life to the full. Here at Gold Care Homes, we believe independent activity, hobbies and day to day chores boast self confidence. By taking the time to understand each residents capabilities, we’re able to build a personalized activity plan.

Our aim is to create a programme that encourages as much interaction and enjoyment as possible. As you’d expect, most activities are indoors. However, when the weather permits, we make the most of our lovely outdoor patio areas and landscaped gardens. When our residents are feeling a little adventurous, we also plan nationwide trips to popular landmarks!
