Dorota (Dora) Woloszyn is Home Manager at Skylark House.
I’d previously worked in a smaller care home in Shoreham as Deputy Manager. Care UK had a good reputation as a respected care provider that prioritises its people’s development and the wellbeing and happiness of all residents.
I’m in my element when I’m with residents and learning more about their lives – that’s the best part of what I do. Interacting with them and knowing I’m making a difference to their day is a great feeling. I also enjoy the compliance and governance part of my role. I start and finish every day with a smile, and that’s what makes me happy.
Skylark House care home in Horsham, Sussex provides a wide range of personalised care services for older people.
Our team delivers expert residential, dementia care, nursing care and short-term respite care. When the time comes, we also offer compassionate, non-intrusive end of life care, looking after everything, and allowing you to focus on your loved one.
Close to the centre of the picturesque town of Horsham, our care home also has some fantastic facilities, including a large, secure garden overlooking the riverside walk, a hair and beauty salon and café – the perfect place to catch up with family and friends over a freshly brewed tea or coffee and a homemade cake. My role involves welcoming potential new residents and their families into the home and showing them the difference we can make to their lives. ![]() Rebecca VincentLifestyle LeadI joined the Skylark House team because I was keen to find a new challenge that was more meaningful and less desk-based! Many of the skills I’ve acquired are useful in this role, including the ability to multi-task. Empathy, energy and lots of positivity come in handy too. ![]() Yann ForgeaisHead ChefI then spent 12 years training on the job under head chefs in the UK before becoming a head chef myself. I’ve worked at some superb hotels as well as at Panacea, one of Manchester’s greatest bars. I also worked for a short time at Wimbledon but was sadly too busy to watch any tennis! ![]() Dean SimpsonHead of MaintenanceMy father is in a care home, and thats shown me what amazing places they can be. When the chance came up to work in a Care UK care home, I jumped at the chance. It was an indoor job in a sector that does important, worthwhile work. ![]() Jo BlackHead HousekeeperI love cleaning, so working in housekeeping really appealed to me. I was delighted to be appointed to my current role after less than a year at Skylark House. |

Activities Are So Important |
---|
At Skylark House we take the time to get to know your loved one, so we can learn what they enjoy doing and how they like to spend their day. Then we create care plans, organise activities and plan menus that are tailored to their needs. We appreciate that having choices is vital to your loved one maintaining their independence. We ensure that all the group and one-to-one activities we organise are tailored to residents’ interests and hobbies and that there are different options to choose from each day. We ask residents for their ideas of activities they’d like to do, and we do our best to make them happen. |
