Hi, my name is Elizabeth, and I am the General Manager here at Sherwood Court.

I have worked within elderly care since 1995 and I am very passionate about improving standards of care for people living within our home. Sherwood Court provides 24-hour nursing and residential care in a warm and friendly environment. Alongside this, we offer bespoke care for people living with dementia in our Memory Lane Community. We have a highly qualified and well-motivated team who feel passionately about helping people retain independence, dignity and choice. They focus on the individual needs of each resident, using bespoke care plans tailored to their needs.

Our high standards can be seen in all areas of the home, from cooking and hospitality, to the activities organised for residents. Our wonderful Activities Coordinators work to ensure there is a variety of planned activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies.

Sherwood Court is located in Fulwood, one of Preston’s most stunning suburbs, and is considered by many to be ‘the home of choice’ in and around the Preston area for dementia and nursing care. We welcome visitors at any time and would love you to drop in and experience the home for yourself. Choosing a care home can prove to be a particularly daunting experience for all, so we pride ourselves on the help and guidance we provide for family members as they navigate their way through the enquiry process.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Our irresistible cuisine is prepared with only the very best fresh, seasonal produce, and based on the individual tastes of the people we support. Our menu will satisfy even those with the smallest of appetites; from breakfast through to dinner, residents can discover something different with fresh flavour and lovely presentation. Our fantastic chefs are always keeping themselves busy in the kitchen creating new and exciting dishes for everyone to enjoy.

For residents that have difficulties in swallowing we modify the menu of the day so that is it a soft, palatable dish.  To support our chefs in producing these dishes, our hospitality and Chef Academy organises theory and practical workshops.  Working in partnership with Nutricia, our practical workshops involve all chefs and deputy managers learning about dysphagia and producing these modified menus. The chefs work with the chef trainer to prepare fork mashable and thick puree meals to the correct consistency, taste and presentation.  The deputy managers can then ensure all modified menus served are presented correctly for our residents.
