Dan Binney is Home manager at Rowan Lodge.

Dan has 25 years’ experience in the NHS working in Mental Health Services. He has worked extensively in care records and client-based electronic systems. Dan worked as part of the National Program team installing the first client based electronic care record into Barnsley and Community Priority Services NHS Trust and later took the role as Systems Manager. In 2011, he became the Administration Manager for a Memory Service in South Yorkshire, together with the Service Manager; they took the service forward winning the award of excellence in the Memory Services National Accreditation Program with the Royal College of Psychiatry which is endorsed by the CQC.
In 2015, Dan emigrated to Gran Canaria where he worked for a law firm who specialised in helping English ex-pats who had bought property in the Canaries who required legal assistance. He then returned to the UK in 2016 when he began work with Forest Care.

Dorina moved from Romania to the UK 6 years ago to begin her nursing career. During these 6 years she has gradually progressed from working as a Care Assistant while registering with the NMC. This then gave her the opportunity to learn and develop her skills within the care environment. Once Dorina received her pin, she was overjoyed to start working as a Nurse.

With a strong work ethic and enthusiasm for professional development, Dorina worked hard to achieve her NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management in Health and Social Care. Achieving this prepared her for the role as Deputy Manager and Head of Care here at Rowan Lodge.

Care Assistants and Senior Carers

Our care team is built of over 40 Care Assistants and Senior Carers who work hard to assist residents with their immediate needs.

Carers and Senior Carers are an important team that undertake a variety of training, giving them the confidence and skill set to provide exemplary care to our residents. Rowan Lodge is also a specialist dementia care provider, this means that staff have completed additional training in dementia care.

Lukasz joined the Forest Care team as Head Chef at Rowan Lodge earlier this year. He relished in this opportunity to really show his creativity with food by redesigning the presentation meals to be elegant and fun while considering each residents dietary requirements. Lukasz adds the personal touch to his work but speaking with residents daily to make sure they are happy with the menus available.

Administrator

Wendy is our outgoing and empathetic Home Administrator. She is a passionate member of the team, striving to add a personal touch to the care given to residents and support to relatives.

As Administrator, Wendy is responsible for the day-to-day administrative functioning of the home and supporting Dan. This involves a variety of tasks such as employment checks, enquiry handling, show rounds and admissions, to reassuring residents and relatives and dealing with their day-to-day requests.

Activities Team

The activities team excellently nurture residents’ social and mental well-being, alongside their physical care within the activities they provide. This can range from card games to musical events, circus performances to movie night, the team really go the extra mile to make the activities varied and person centered. They do this by using care plans while considering residents’ histories and hobbies to plan respectful activities that enhance lives, encourage socialisation and stimulate memories. This is an important part of our person-centered care.

Larry joined the Rowan Lodge team in 2020. Every team is integral to the running of our care home. We are fortunate to have a team of hard-working and compassionate individuals in housekeeping effectively lead by Larry. Not only do they help with the smooth running of the home, but they also contribute to the social and hospitality experience our residents enjoy.

What do you like most about working at Rowan Lodge?
The pride I have in our Housekeeping team. When I see them go above and beyond their job role to enrich and improve the residents’ day with their humour and thoughtfulness, it makes me realise there is no better Housekeeping team I could possibly work with.

Alan is our Handyman who helps with fixing things and making sure our home runs smoothly. This involves ensuring that any maintenance/repair works are carried out promptly and efficiently with minimum disturbance.

Alan is your man if you require shelving, pictures hung on wall, carpet cleaning or any general maintenance to make your room as comfortable as possible.

Physiotherapist

We offer physiotherapy every week to our residents at no additional cost. Theresa, our visiting physiotherapist, is happy to give residents consultations and exercise programs. Just speak to the office team to arrange a session. Although physiotherapy is not a regulatory compliance for care homes to provide, Forest Care believes it is a vital service we should be offering. For this reason, we include physiotherapy at no additional cost.

Our dedicated and experienced nursing team is responsible for managing the clinical care of our residents at Holly Lodge focusing on their holistic care, which includes their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

This involves administering medication, working with our home GP and supporting senior carers and carers to ensure residents receive person-centered care in accordance with their assessed needs and plans of care.
