Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.
What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe | ||
---|---|---|
We have extensive infection prevention and control (IPC) measures in place at all times which are audited by the manager weekly and monthly, this is also audited quarterly by our quality improvement manager to ensure we are working as safely as possible. We were recently had an IPC inspection by CQC who were very happy that we had every possible measure in place to support safe working practices and reduce transmission as much as possible. All staff have extensive training in IPC which is revisited regularly and their knowledge is tested as often as possible to ensure they have a good understanding of the best way to do their jobs safely. All staff wear face masks at all times and gloves and aprons for all care tasks. New residents or those returning from hospital are tested before admission and then isolate upon arrival. |

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. ![]() Daniel ReesThe Home ManagerDan joined Shaw healthcare in 2018 ![]() Joanne HolmanDeputy ManagerJo joined the care sector and Shaw healthcare back in June 2008. There is not a role in a care home that Jo has not undertaken – she loves a challenge and has helped out in many Shaw homes across the West Sussex region. learning and improving along the way. Jo is a happy member of the team at Rotherlea, professional at all times, showing kindness and empathy. Jo enjoys the interactions she has each day with families, health professionals, and of course the lovely residents. Jo commented “Speaking to the residents and listening to their life stories, just knowing you have made a difference to someone’s day, is what makes working in care so wonderful” The recent Pandemic has been a really scary time for everyone but, our main focus has been ensuring the residents are safe. The residents have kept in good spirits despite not seeing their loved ones all the time. However, they have enjoyed and at times been fascinated with modern technology such as Facetime, Skype, and Zoom. ![]() Angie ChandlerService AdministratorI have worked at Rotherlea since January 2019. This is my first job in the care sector after working in education for 20 years. I enjoy the variety of jobs my role entails and I love helping and supporting my colleagues. The best memory of a working day was in my extra role as line manager for Activities organising a British Tea Party where I could interact with both residents and colleagues. My qualifications are NVQ Level 2 in Administration, Level 1 & Level 2 in Counselling Skills. ![]() Jacqueline RalphSupport WorkerHaving raised my family I returned to employment in 2011 at Rotherlea. I have had extensive training which had given me the skills I need as a Support Worker. The team are friendly and supportive making the working environment a pleasant and calming one. I am always more than happy to do overtime when asked. |
