Tara Williams is Manager at Redmount Residential Care Home.
"I have worked in Health and Social Care since 2007, starting as a Care Assistant and working my way up to become Registered Manager from 2017. I have achieved a Diploma Level 5 in leadership and management. In addition to managing Redmount Residential Home, I also have experience working as a Registered Manager in a domiciliary care service for the elderly. I am passionate about adult social care and have a particular interest in working with people with dementia in a residential setting and being dedicated in supporting my team to achieve good outcomes through personalised care.
I always start my day when first entering the building by greeting the residents. This is their home that I am coming into every day and it is important that I (and my staff) value that. The people I care for and work with are among the most amazing people I have ever met. I can truly say I love my job and it brings me great job satisfaction that every day I do make a difference."
Redmount Residential Home is located on the edge of Buckfastleigh, a quiet village in the heart of the southwest Devon countryside. It provides long and short-term care, respite and day care to the elderly and people living with milder forms of dementia.
The hoe occupies an enviable rural location. It is nestled just half a mile from the historic Buckfastleigh Abbey, and a few minutes' drive from the A38 and easy access to the rest of this glorious part of the world. The home has well-kept, secluded grounds and an outdoor sun deck, which can be enjoyed during all seasons
We believe in a philosophy of person-centred care, and always have the residents' needs and wishes in mind. Every member of staff is trained and experienced to provide nurture and support, and to ensure our home is the best it can be. We endeavour to provide high quality care and support in a warm, nurturing environment, where privacy, independence and happiness are championed.
Life at Redmount is enriching and engaging, although there are opportunities for quiet relaxation, too. We have a wide variety of activities planned on a daily and weekly basis, including music and movement, singing, quizzes, reminiscence and days out. Residents also enjoy watching wildlife from our deck and conservatory, and visiting entertainers help to keep the mood light and interesting
Visitors are welcome to come and spend time with their loved ones whenever they wish, in any of our cosy, well-appointed lounges and communal areas.
We welcome your queries, and will be happy to show you around should you wish. Choosing a care home is a big decision, and we will be beside your family every step of the way. Be reassured that your loved one's needs and wishes are our top priority.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.
What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe | ||
---|---|---|
We are doing everything we can to keep people safe. We have robust procedures in place to ensure we are following the latest government guidance. We have always had excellent stock levels of mask and other PPE to ensure we are never without. We were committed to only allowing admissions following a clear covid 19 test, and this has been our stance since the start of the pandemic on 12th March 2020. We ask all new admissions to isolate in their rooms initially to be extra sure that they do not have the virus or any symptoms of it. We train all staff in infection control and support them practically in following the new procedures in their roles. |

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |
---|
Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. Social media provides an up to date window on the activities within a provider's setting.
With the restrictions on visiting during the pandemic, social media platforms such as these offer real insight when you are choosing a provider.
