Pinewood is located in a quiet residential area of Chigwell, Essex, opposite Coppice Primary School.

Our care home is a 10-minute drive from Barkingside High Street with all the shops, restaurants, a library and other attractions this has to offer. We are also only a five-minute walk from Grange Hill tube station, providing direct access to London’s wonderful attractions, including Trafalgar Square.

The dedicated team provides a range of care and support for our residents, including residential care, dementia care and respite care.

Our care home has been designed with the usual comforts you’d expect such as welcoming lounges, light and airy dining rooms, beautiful gardens including a sensory garden and cosy bedrooms, which provide a warm place for our residents to rest and relax.

However it’s the small personal touches and our friendly team, who care for our residents as if they were members of their own family, which make Pinewood a true home from home.

We welcome visits from family and friends and have an open door policy, so whether loved ones like to pop in for a coffee or take part in an activity, we encourage them to become part of the community within our home.

We hold regular meetings for residents and relatives, enabling our residents and their loved ones to be directly involved in everyday life at Pinewood.

Our care team is on-hand 24 hours a day, every day of the year and staff are dedicated to delivering care with kindness.

To ensure we continue to provide the best standards of care and support to our residents, we recruit and train only the best staff.

Whilst they receive a variety of on-going training to ensure their skills remain up-to-date, along with an enhanced DBS check (formerly CRB), it is their dedication to our residents which makes them truly special.

Activities Leader

At Pinewood Residential Care Home, our activities leader Lorraine Erich was proud to be shortlisted for the London regional finals of the Great British Care Awards 2018, for the Care Home Activity Organiser Award. The award is for someone who shows ‘exceptional skills and creativity’ when it comes to providing activities.

Lorraine, who has worked at the care home for 27 years, has inspired the rest of the team to value the importance of activities when it comes to fulfilling the lives of their residents and making sure they are happy and engaged.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Our catering team prides themselves on preparing nutritious, seasonal home-cooked meals, along with mouth-watering home-baked cakes for afternoon tea.

Residents help us to shape the menus and our catering team spends time with them to get feedback on the dishes and their likes and dislikes. They are also able to cater for a variety of dietary requirements.

Breakfast includes a wide variety of choice from cereals and toast to a traditional cooked breakfast.

Lunch and dinnertimes see a selection of sandwiches, home-made soups, salads, jacket potatoes and hot meals such as a Sunday roast with all the trimmings and favourites including fish and chips, cottage pie and a hearty casserole.

There is also an array of snacks and refreshments available throughout the day for residents and their loved ones if they get a bit peckish.

Activities Are So Important

At Pinewood Residential Care Home, our activities leader Lorraine Erich was proud to be shortlisted for the London regional finals of the Great British Care Awards 2018, for the Care Home Activity Organiser Award. There are also regular days out to places like nearby Hainault Forest, a country park with a lake, a petting zoo and of course an abundance of wildlife. Lorraine often takes residents to Fairlop Waters Country Park in Redbridge, where they go birdwatching.

A 10-minute drive from Barkingside High Street, Pinewood is close to plenty of shops and restaurants, a library and other attractions Chigwell has to offer. We are also a 10-minute walk from Grange Hill tube station, providing direct access to central London.

Our residents also take part in outings in our minibus to local garden, shopping and community centres, as well as visiting local schools and enjoying trips to Southend on Sea.

Pinewood also benefits from large landscaped gardens, a themed beach area and a hairdressing salon.
