Katherine Matthews is Home Manager at Perry Manor.

I have a passion for person-centred care and I see how hard my team works every day to deliver impressively personalised care. Every member of the team brings something different, and supporting them to achieve their potential is a large part of what I do.

safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Infection Screening We are using technology to screen for infections & monitor symptoms.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

All Care UK homes now have purpose-built internal or external visiting suites available which enable visits to take place from behind a sealed glass panel, using a sound system to assist with communication. Where Government guidance and local health teams allow, these suites make it possible to continue visiting even when we have a case of Covid-19 in the home.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Wireless Internet access (WiFi)

Yes, our care home has WiFi in all our resident’s rooms.

Mobile Phone Network Coverage (mobile “signal”)

Yes, our care home has mobile phone signal in all our resident’s rooms.

Telephone for external calling

Deputy Manager

I’ve worked for Care UK for over five years. I wanted to work for the organisation because I wanted to make a difference to other people’s lives. Care UK puts residents at the everything it does, which echoes my own commitment to care.

I started out as a care assistant and absolutely loved the work. I progressed to team leader, Unit Lead, Unit Manager and now Deputy Manager, which I’m incredibly proud of. Care UK offers superb training and I’ve been fortunate to complete its ‘Future Deputy Manager’ course.

Perry Manor is a wonderful home with a genuine family atmosphere. More than anything, I love supporting the residents and just chatting to them, learning about their lives and achievements.

We’re a very forward-looking and innovative care home in all aspects of care, and everything we do is always aimed at enhancing the care and quality of life of the people we care for.

Customer Relations Manager

I’ve worked for many years in sales as well as in hospitality, so this role combines a lot of my passions, including delivering a superb customer experience. I am no stranger to the care sector, and have worked in administration and reception roles for other care providers.

In this role it’s vital to be a good listener and have empathy with families who are under immense pressure and looking for the best care for a much-loved family member. It’s important that I’m clear and informed about what we offer and how we can meet their needs. Perry Manor has a wonderful welcoming atmosphere. It’s very vibrant and friendly and it has a fantastic reputation, which I’m looking forward to enhancing even further.

In my free time I enjoy watching movies, going to the gym, long walks or to dance classes. My son is a semi-professional footballer, so I’m often supporting him at matches at the weekends.

Head Chef

I joined Perry Manor in August 2018. I’m an experienced care home chef/catering manager and I have a couple of family members who are residents here. They said how friendly and family orientated the home is, so I thought I’d apply.

I enjoy seeing residents looking happy in anticipation of lunch or dinner, as well as hearing their feedback afterwards. My team is here to give the residents what they would like, so it’s important to be approachable, to listen and to act on residents’ comments.

I’m learning residents’ likes and dislikes as I get to know them. Food is an important aspect of their health and wellbeing, and I like helping to bring back food-related memories from their earlier lives; taste – like smell – can evoke fond memories for people.

Lifestyle Lead

I joined Care UK (in 2016) because I was keen to work for an organisation that treats its people with respect and gives them opportunities to achieve and succeed in their roles. Before moving here, I was a healthcare assistant in other local care homes.

I have the best job because I get to have fun with the residents. We do so many different things: we get creative, we dance, play games – you name it! I also organise some of our events, including Care Home Open Day.

Working here gives me all sorts of opportunities to try new things and to challenge myself. You never quite know what each day will bring! We have a very supportive management team in the home who help you to do anything you set your mind to. We have the attitude that anything is possible, both for residents and for colleagues.

Business Administrator

When I left university I was determined to work in an organisation where the people were passionate about the work they did. Care UK was just such a place, and I’ve worked here pretty much since I graduated in 2014.

This role is a great combination: I enjoy working on the details, on rotas and planning, but I also really enjoy the interaction I get to have with residents, families and colleagues every day. There’s good balance and variety. There’s still lots to learn, but I was very proud to receive a regional award for ‘Going the Extra Mile’ last year.

Head Housekeeper

I’ve been part of the Perry Manor team for some years now. Originally I worked in the retail sector, but I fancied a change. I felt that I could make a difference to people’s lives working here. Patience, understanding, being caring and having a positive approach go a long way in this role. And I believe in treating the residents as though they’re members of my own family.

One of the biggest challenges for me was being promoted to head up the Housekeeping team, but I love my job and I have a great team who are extremely supportive and hardworking. Every day is different and brings new challenges, but it keeps things interesting!

Maintenance

I used to work in a maintenance role at Debenhams, as well as on the shop floor for over 30 years. When I wanted a different role and a chance to make a difference to other people’s lives, I saw this role and thought I’d apply. I haven’t looked back.

I enjoy applying my experience and skills in a care home setting. I work well in a team and I’m always approachable. Getting used to all the necessary checks has probably been the biggest challenge!

By far the best part of my day is interacting with the residents as well as my colleagues here at Perry Manor. A recent challenge, which I enjoyed being involved with, has been launching our new Malvern suite, which provides specialist care for people with complex needs.

In my free time I enjoy going to car boot sales and seeing what I can find. I’m also into photography and collecting vintage games consoles. If you have any you’re looking to get rid of, let me know!
