Sue Aldridge is Manager at Penberthy.

Penberthy sits on the top of a hill, a short walk away from the popular beaches of Newquay. It is lucky to boast of fabulous views across the sea, with many of our 34 rooms sharing these stunning views. Our communal areas are decorated for a homely feel and our private rooms are clean, warm and ready for our residents to personalise. We have a garden with outside seating and a lovely patio where residents can enjoy some fresh air and warmth in those gorgeous summer months.

Our home is relaxed and comfortable with a family-orientated atmosphere. Penberthy is one of several care homes owned and operated by Cornwall Care, a not-for-profit public charity and the largest provider of care homes in the county. Cornwall Care has a reputation for genuine and loving care for residents and we at Penberthy are proud to share that. Our aim is provide the best care possible in a supportive, dignified and positive environment.

Penberthy is situated in the town of Newquay. It is a purpose built three storey building with a range of aids and adaptations in place to meet the needs of people living there.

On the ground floor there is a main lounge/dining area. There are smaller quieter areas for people to use if they wish. Bedrooms are located on the three floors.

Within Cornwall Care our Chefs provide healthy, nutritious, wholesome food. We source local ingredients and cook? fresh every day. Clients are offered their preferred choice and likes, dislikes, dietary needs and cultural? preferences are always catered for.

We also understand the importance of having an enjoyable eating experience - whether that means fresh flowers on the table, food from childhood, ? eating alone or eating with friends - we try to provide experiences that suit each individual, catering for their personal needs.

We ensure we have a variety of specialist activities available that reflects the interests and capabilities of the people that we care for and we expect as many of our staff as possible to get involved in our activities groups and therapy sessions.

We understand how people have different interests and abilities and try our best to provide meaningful activities to suit each individual. Our staff get to know what stimulates, engages and gives purpose to each individual and we take feedback from our residents to make sure there is something for everyone to enjoy.

We also employ the organisation 'Oomph', an award-winning social enterprise dedicated to enhancing the mental, physical and emotional well-being of older adults. They deliver ground-breaking, cost effective solutions to give older people the best possible quality of life.
