Oxenford House is in the quite rural village of Cumnor, which is 4 miles from the historic city of Oxford and 5 miles from Abingdon on Thames. Within walking distance, you can find a village store with post office, public houses for meals out or afternoon teas and various places of worship, all of which contribute to a lively village community. All our Residents are encouraged to continue to pursue and develop interests they have or would like to try for the first time.

We provide 25 single bedrooms and aim to provide the highest quality care at a fair price whilst enhancing the quality of life of each individual Resident. The attention to detail that comes from a totally dedicated and committed workforce is overseen by the continued full-time involvement of the General Manager

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

The health, safety and wellbeing of our residents and staff has always been our highest priority. We have therefore taken immediate and extensive action in relation to the Covid-19 pandemic. We have specific & thorough infection control procedures that all followed closely by our Housekeeping and Care teams, weekly LFD & PCR testing for all staff and monthly for our Residents and a substantial stock of PPE.

We are very happy to say that we are able to host visits for our relatives in our Pod which provides a Covid secure space with it's air tight PVC screen and comprehensive cleaning schedule to ensure we are continuing to protect our Residents and Staff. We are also continuing with Facetime and Skype calls for all our Residents whose family are not close enough to visit

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

After providing garden visits from June 2020, we we're very lucky in late 2020 to be able to get a visiting pod for Covid secure visits for all our Residents.

It has heating, lighting and a telecom system for ease of communications and our Residents and Relatives have loved having somewhere to visit until we can offer everyone internal visits again.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Description

Our team have been carefully selected not only for their professional ability, but also because of their dedication and commitment to making a difference by helping everyone in the home to have a happy, independent and fulfilling life.

The General Manager has a wealth of experience in the care of the elderly and has attained the Registered Managers Award. Supporting her is the Deputy Manager and our valued team of care, administrative, housekeeping and catering staff. All staff undertake both in-house and external training. This enables our staff to successfully meet the physical, emotional, social, intellectual and spiritual needs of our Residents.

We also build up relationships with students from local schools who on a weekly basis, visit residents whilst aiming for their Duke of Edinburgh Award or in gaining experience before applying to medical school. We find the interaction between the different generations is mutually beneficial to all involved.
