Grace Adan is The Home Manager at Oak Lodge.

Grace won the 2019 Care Home Manager of the Year Award at the prestigious National Care Awards. Judges said “Grace Adan, in particular, takes as much care of her staff as she does her residents. The judges were wowed by Grace’s passion, humility and warmth. Not only is Grace an ambassador for best practice in her care home, but for the industry at large. After 18 years of service, Grace wins this national award for her outstanding home”. Forest Care is immensely proud of Grace’s achievement.

Grace moved from the Philippines in 2001 to work at Oak Lodge. She developed and blossomed into a superb Registered Manager from her role as Nurse, making the home “Outstanding”.

As well as our enhanced infection control procedures, all staff and visitors are having temperature checks upon entry to the home. While we are encouraging regular handwashing and sanitising along with ensuring a 2-meter distance is maintained between individuals wherever possible.

Nestled in the tranquil countryside, Oak Lodge has extensive external and internal communal areas for residents to explore. Oak Lodge is a stunning conversion of former farm buildings offering luxury-living, elegance, comfort, security and 24-hour nursing care.

Oak Lodge is a purpose-built care home designed around the needs of the people we support and finished to a high standard, with modern facilities throughout. All 60 en-suite bedrooms have sensory garden or countryside views, providing a tranquil environment. There are also 6 interconnecting rooms for couples.

Residents can enjoy plenty of bright and spacious communal areas inside, while the gardens and terraces are perfect for enjoying the country air.

Jacqui began working at Oak Lodge in 2009. She loves the interaction with residents, families and staff ensuring they are happy and well looked after.

As Administrator, Jacqui is responsible for the day-to-day administrative functioning of the home and supporting Grace to ensure everything happens as it should. This involves a variety of tasks such as employment checks, enquiry handling, show rounds and admissions, to being a point of contact for residents and relatives while dealing with their day-to-day requests.

With an extensive background in nursing, Flora has worked at Oak Lodge for 18 years and is responsible for managing the clinical care of the residents in the home. This involves supervising the nurses, senior carers and carers to ensure residents receive person-centred care in accordance with their assessed needs and plans of care, and ensuring their mental, physical and emotional well-being.

To provide the exemplary care our residents deserve, we intentionally hire more staff than the industry average. Having more staff means we can offer a more relaxed, stress free environment for our residents, where the staff have time to deliver person-centered care. Our care team are passionate about their jobs and have completed a variety of training courses, giving them the confidence and skills sets to provide outstanding care.

We generally work on ratios of around 1:4 care staff per residents by day and 1:8 by night. However, these ratios do not include the home’s domestic, catering, laundry, activities and management staff.

Activities Team

Val, Marion, Rosalind, Michelle and Sarah make up our Activities team. They excellently nurture residents’ social and mental well-being, alongside their physical care within the Activities they provide. This can range from card games to musical events.

The activities team uses care plans and consider residents’ histories and hobbies to plan respectful activities that enhance lives, encourage socialisation and stimulate memories. This is an important part of our person-centered care.

Tracey has worked at Oak Lodge for over 18 years. Having started as a weekend Chef, then taking on more hours, finally working as Head Chef for the past 5 years.

In her own words “Good food and nutrition are important to everyone, especially the elderly. I am passionate right from the start of the planning, ordering, cooking through to serving the food to our residents. I carefully consider each of their likes and dislikes and enjoy seeing empty plates and well-nourished residents. I’m proud to be part of the residents lives here and responsible for their well-being, nutritionally”.

Lubo is our passionate and dedicated Handyman who works very hard fixing things and making sure our home runs smoothly. This involves ensuring that any maintenance/repair works are carried out promptly and efficiently with minimum disturbance.

Lubo is your man if you require shelving, pictures hung on wall, carpet cleaning or any general maintenance to make your room as comfortable as possible.

Not only do they help with the smooth running of the home, but they also contribute to the social and hospitality experience our residents enjoy.

Our dedicated and experienced nursing team is responsible for managing the clinical care of our residents at Holly Lodge focusing on their holistic care, which includes their mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

This involves administering medication, working with our home GP and supporting senior carers and carers to ensure residents receive person-centered care in accordance with their assessed needs and plans of care.
