Meet The Manager

Debbie Vellender is General Manager at Merlewood.

I trained as a nurse at St George’s hospital Tooting and Queen Mary’s Hospital Roehampton in the 90s. I worked in the NHS for over 20 years mainly in Medical and Elderly care, working my way up to Advanced (Clinical) Site Practitioner at a large local hospital. In this time my passion for the elderly developed. I moved to Merlewood in 2013.  I get huge job satisfaction leading a team of like-minded compassionate individuals. Merlewood residents and staff have  became like a second family to me.

On a personal level, I have been married to Paul for 22 years and have two teenage children, Ben and Hannah. I live locally and my hobbies are swimming and shopping. I have a passion for horses and dream of owning a race horse one day.
