Glais House Nursing Home is set in its own wooded grounds in the peaceful village of Glais, near Swansea. A lot of individuals living at the home previously lived in surrounding areas, such as Clydach, Morriston, Pontardawe and other villages close to Glais. On many occasions we find that they know each other or know each other’s families.

The home offers wheelchair access and has lifts to all floors, together with a safe and friendly environment for all individuals. The home is light and airy, decorated with bright colours to help to create warm and family feel for those who live here.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We hold weekly COVID-19 testing and have set an Infection Control and COVID-19 training in place for current and new employees.

We take infection control very seriously and do everything possible to create a safe living and working environment for our residents and staff. We have disinfectant fogger system in place and ozon genetartor which is used on a regular basis to prevent infection/ bacteria spread.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Air Filtration & Purification We are using air filtration and/or air purification devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

During the lock down we’ve build a visitors hub, which is a small indoor room joined alongside the top lounge providing separate access to visitors while residents can stay at the comfort of the lounge. Double window doors allows family members to see their loved ones well and also microphone / telephone system in place allows them to communicate with each other.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
