Activities Are So Important

Keeping residents engaged and stimulated with fulfilling activities is a vital part of life in the home. Whether enjoying a spot of holistic therapy with our regular Reiki sessions, or waving pom poms around in the music and movement classes, there is always something to do! Our more intimate one-to-one activities are so important too, where we sit with a resident and do anything from reading poetry together, spending time reminiscing or treating them to a relaxing hand massage.

Every week, we take the residents out and about in our own minibus. A short drive from the nursing home is the National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride. Other favourite spots that our residents like to go to each week are South Lanarkshire’s Calderglen Country Park and Whitelee Wind Farm in Eaglesham, Glasgow. If they fancy a little retail therapy, the care home is a very short drive from the town’s main shopping centre.

Every week, the leaders of the local churches conduct services at Forefaulds especially for our residents. We are also invited back to Moncrieff Parish Church in Calderwood every week for activities such as dominoes, darts, and boules.
