Meet The Manager

Kirsten Tennant is Care Home Manager at Dawson Lodge Care Home.

"The thing that I find most rewarding about my job is seeing residents happy and enjoying themselves. I love being able to make a positive difference to people’s days, so I try to spend as much time with residents as I can.

My office door is always open, and residents often pop in to say hello. There’s a very friendly, sociable atmosphere at Dawson Lodge. We have a very caring and dedicated team on hand to meet each resident's individual needs.

Our catering team are passionate about our menus, where our food is cooked freshly on site each day. We have a full and varied activity programme to include arts and crafts, entertainers and musical events."

Dawson Lodge Care Home on the outskirts of Southampton provides a warm, welcoming and supportive environment where residents are treated with dignity, kindness and respect. We offer friendly residential care, with tailored support available for older people living with dementia and for those whose needs may change over time. We can support up to 64 residents in spacious bedrooms, each with en-suite wet-room facilities.

Every resident is supported by a dedicated care team that takes the time to understand their individual needs, routines, and preferences. Personalised care plans are developed in partnership with residents and their families, ensuring reassurance, continuity and peace of mind.

Mealtimes are an important part of daily life in our home. Our Chef Manager and team prepare freshly cooked, nutritious meals on site each day, with menus shaped by resident feedback and individual dietary needs. Special diets, cultural preferences and personal favourites are always catered for, and mealtimes are relaxed, social occasions enjoyed together.

With a strong focus on community, wellbeing and meaningful relationships, we aim to create a place that truly feels like home — where residents are supported to live well every day.

Come visit us anytime. We’re here to help and look forward to giving you a warm welcome.

Activities Are So Important

Life here at Dawson Lodge is about more than care. Residents are encouraged to stay active, independent and connected through a varied programme of activities and events. From gentle exercise, music and arts sessions to quizzes, gardening and local outings, there are opportunities for everyone to take part in ways that suit them.

We also welcome family and friends to join in and remain closely involved in daily life at the home.

We work in partnership with the National Association for Providers of Activities for Older People (NAPA) and encourage activities that enhance our residents’ lifestyle, health and wellbeing. Residents' preferred activities, interests and abilities are discussed when they move in, and an agreed plan ensures that these requests are fulfilled (wherever possible). Our residents’ suggestions for activities also help shape the planning process.
