Marie Pickering is Manager at Cedar Court Nursing Home.
Marie Pickering has been registered manager at Cedar Court since 2000, having started her career there in 1987. She qualified as a registered nurse in 1979 at Burton Hospital.
She says: “During my working life at Cedar Court, I have been able to recognise the passion that started when I was very young; to care for people. Cedar Court has enabled me to follow this calling in every way imaginable. It is such a special place for me, and this is enhanced by the team of dedicated staff who I work alongside. In my role as Home Manager I am able to maintain close contact with the staff and join them in the care we deliver to improve the daily lives of those entrusted to us. Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.
What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe | ||
---|---|---|
We are doing everything we can to keep people safe. We have robust procedures in place to ensure we are following the latest government guidance. We have always had excellent stock levels of mask and other PPE to ensure we are never without. We were committed to only allowing admissions following a clear covid 19 test, and this has been our stance since the start of the pandemic on 12th March 2020. We ask all new admissions to isolate in their rooms initially to be extra sure that they do not have the virus or any symptoms of it. We train all staff in infection control and support them practically in following the new procedures in their roles. |

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |
---|
Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. Wireless Internet access (WiFi) Yes, our care home has WiFi in all our resident’s rooms. Mobile Phone Network Coverage (mobile “signal”) Our care home has mobile phone signal in some of our residents’ rooms. Telephone for external calling Yes, our care home provides a telephone in all our resident’s rooms. |
Social media provides an up to date window on the activities within a provider's setting.
With the restrictions on visiting during the pandemic, social media platforms such as these offer real insight when you are choosing a provider.
