Care Provider: Beaumont Care Limited |
Arshad Farid is Managing Director at Caremark Calderdale.
I have spent most of my career in financial services until opening an indoor football centre to promote sport and exercise to the local community.
During this time I became carer for grandparents who both suffered a stroke, chose to sell the football centre and launch an alternative community-minded enterprise, my aspiration to tackle the growing problem of social isolation prevalent in the region.
Our aim is to deliver quality care to people of Calderdale.
The thing setting us apart from other providers is that we challenge the current model for care.
We have a brand-new system in place to meet the varying needs of our clients.
Our aim is to be carer of choice, enabling any vulnerable member of the community to live independently for as long as possible, creating a culture where we put the client and our staff first, work together as a team with the goal to achieve and consistently provide the highest level of care to those in need.
Helping someone you love to cope with the challenges that come with dementia and memory loss can be exhausting, upsetting and isolating. But Caremark is here to offer practical support, advice and reassurance. We can provide professional and fully trained care assistants for day care at home as little or as often as you need it, as well as respite care and live-in care.
We also have plenty of experience to share with you, enabling you to feel better equipped to deal with any situation that might arise. We can let you know about useful outside resources too, including details of support networks and local dementia groups that you and your loved one might find helpful.

Our care and support team are all recruited using value based questioning. It is vital to us that they possess the right personal qualities to provide care and support to your or your loved one. We believe that whilst practical skills can be taught that compassion and "caring" cannot. Our team are all fully enhanced DBS checked and we obtain all references in accordance with Local Authority and CQC expectations. Our team all undertake Care Certificate training which includes comprehensive online and face to face learning covering core learning areas such as First Aid, Moving & Handling, Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults and Children, Management of Medication, Health & Safety. Our team also undertake condition specific training so they possess a deeper understanding of the needs of people with Dementia, Parkinson's Disease, Multiple Sclerosis as an example. As a new package begins all carers would be introduced prior to them delivering your care and support independently. This allows you or your loved one to meet the staff, for them to be shown and talked through any important routines and care tasks, and for them to learn about the important details that make for quality care. Our team are regularly spot checked on their visits to ensure all care tasks are being performed to the highest standard and they can give feedback on aspects of the care plan that may need attention outside of the normal scheduled reviewing process. All staff receive bi-monthly supervisions to address any issues or concerns, feedback any positive comments from yourself or professionals and to develop their long term goals and training needs. Ongoing training in specialist areas that may be required by yourself or your loved one are arranged as needed alongside vocational Level 2 and 3 qualifications and annual updates and refreshers. A number of our staff team are able to speak Asian languages including, Patwari, Punjabi, Urdu and Hindi and are also able to understand cultural and dietary needs that may be vital to you or your loved ones needs. |

The Importance Of Meal Times |
---|
Our carers all undergo training in nutrition and hydration and will work hard to ensure the person with dementia is eating healthily and taking appropriate exercise. A common symptom of dementia is a change in tastes or a loss of appetite, but a healthy diet and suitable exercise has been shown to have a positive effect on dementia symptoms. |
