Meet The Manager

Lynn Roddy is The Owner at Home Instead Tavistock & Tamar Valley.

After a 16 year career as an Army officer in the Royal Signals, I moved to Devon back in 2011, with my husband Mike, then a Royal Marine and our 2 children.  Having worked whilst the children were very small, I took the opportunity to be around for the children in their primary school years.  With a serving heart, I immersed herself in voluntary activities, running the PA, managing sports teams and leading parenting courses for the local community.  My mum moved down to Tavistock and I was able to be an integral part of her care. I met some amazing people who helped care for mum in her Care Home and I am passionate that this same level of care is available to enable people to remain in their homes.

Lynn Roddy

Lynn Roddy has been running Home Instead Senior Care Tavistock & Tamar Valley since her own personal experience led her to understand the importance of caring home care for the elderly. Working with a team of dedicated care professionals from all over the Tavistock & Tamar Valley area they provide a range of care at home. Whether it is specialist dementia care in Launceston or domiciliary care in Saltash we provide home care in Tavistock & Tamar Valley you can be confident in. We also provide respite care, palliative and companion care in the Torpoint area.

We continue to add new services to our offering including our Raizer Chair.

Our Raizer Chair  can be deployed to our clients in the event of a fall.  Ambulance services can be delayed, leaving individuals stranded on the floor for long periods of time.  Our Raizer Chair can safely lift a client, preventing skin injury and allowing for dignity to be restored.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We follow all Government guidance on infection control and wearing of PPE.  We regularly re-fresh our CAREGivers on the procedures for wearing and disposing of PPE and overall infection control procedures.

Many of our CAREGivers and staff have already been vaccinated against COVID and have had the yearly flu vaccine.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Contact Tracing We have measures in place to identify and trace contact between people in our care setting.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.

Description

Our wonderful CAREGivers are specially selected on the basis of their personalities – kindness, empathy, reliability and a genuine interest in other people are all key attributes that we look for.

After completing an initial 4 days of award winning training with Sandie, our Care Manager, to ensure that they have the skills they need, they are hand-picked for each of our clients. We match them based on interests and background to ensure that quality relationships can be built.

Our CAREGivers receive ongoing specialist training, mentoring and support to ensure that they always deliver the very best care. They don’t wear uniforms – just a Home Instead ID badge – and a lovely smile!

Theo
Theo
Honourary Home Instead Employee

Hello my name is Theo (short for Theodore Hugo Skywalker Stink) and I work at Home Instead Senior Care.

I pop into the office to steal all the biscuits from the wonderful CAREGivers who work here. I love to go out and about running with Lynn, meeting local people and telling them about the amazing work that our team does to help older people in their own homes. If you see us around please come and say hello.

I am a Springador (there is a little bit of springer spaniel in the line somewhere) so I love Dartmoor because I have lots of opportunities to get wet and muddy, an easy thing to do in Tavistock.
