Karen Hugill is Registered Manager at Mapplewell Manor.
Mapplewell Manor provides residential, dementia, respite and long-term care for up to 87 residents in a modern, purpose-built setting in the heart of Mapplewell village.
Located in a quiet cul-de-sac just five minutes’ walk from local shops and cafés, the home is laid out across three self-contained floors, each with its own dining room, lounge and kitchenette. All bedrooms are single occupancy with en-suite facilities, and residents are supported to personalise their space with familiar belongings.
The home features wide corridors for accessibility, a café bar for socialising, and on-site amenities including a hair salon, therapy rooms and landscaped gardens. The central Victorian-style courtyard, complete with a water fountain, provides a calm and sociable space, while the raised flower beds and wildflower embankment support seasonal gardening activities and outdoor events.
Dining is flexible, with freshly cooked meals, 24-hour snacks, hydration stations, and regular themed events. Residents are actively involved in menu planning and mealtimes are a valued part of daily life.
Daily activities include music and animal therapy, arts and crafts, and group events tailored to individual needs. Regular trips to local pubs, garden centres and cafés help residents stay connected to the wider community.
At Mapplewell Manor, care isn’t just about support, it’s about creating a community where residents thrive. Whether you’re searching for yourself or a loved one, for residential, dementia, respite or long-term care, the team at Mapplewell Manor are here to help.

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant. We encourage our residents to furnish their rooms as they wish. This could be as simple as hanging a couple of their favourite pictures on the wall, but they’re also welcome to bring their own comfy chair, or anything that makes them feel at home. The most important thing is for everyone to feel comfortable, happy and settled. All our bedrooms have either a full en suite wet room or an en suite toilet and sink. Some rooms also enjoy lovely garden views. We have a call system that can be operated by a hand control or a pendant depending on personal preference. All floors are secured by keypad coding to ensure that residents are safe and secure at all times. |

Our approach to care is a truly holistic one, always intending to nurture your loved one’s mind, body and spirit. This comes as part of our promise to you and our residents, to help them genuinely live a better, more fulfilled life. It’s about respecting their individual needs, listening and understanding, and presenting them with opportunities and daily activities to keep their minds and bodies active. Whether they flourish in a lively group activity or prefer to recharge in the peaceful surroundings of one of our quiet spaces, our home is brimming with inspiration and potential. We support everybody’s individual choices, interests and hobbies and our passionate Activity Coordinators love keeping residents active and entertained. They provide a fun-packed and stimulating schedule for people to participate in as they choose. There are arts and crafts, bingo, baking, regular trips out, external entertainers, and church services, just to mention a few of the things we get up to. Music Therapy: At Mapplewell Manor our music therapists interact with residents through singalongs, playing simple percussion instruments and responding to musical cues in either a one-to-one or group setting. These sessions often prove to be truly life-enhancing, helping people unlock special memories and express their feelings and emotions. |
