Meet The Manager

Vicki Ellis is Home Manager at The Grange and Elm Court.

I started working at The Grange and Elm Court in November 2003, beginning my journey as a domestic assistant. Over the years, I have progressed as a care assistant, senior carer, team leader and deputy manager, before becoming the Home Manager of this amazing home. Never in my wildest dreams imagine that I’d end up here today. I have been the very proud registered manager of the service for the last six years, and have completed a total of almost 18 years here. I have loved every moment, too.

Over the years I have undertaken numerous training and development courses, including NVQ Levels 2 & 3 in Health and Social Care, which led me onto the advanced level apprenticeship in management. At present, I am studying my NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Health and Social Care, and am also a qualified first aider and a trained fire marshall at the service. I don’t think I’ll ever stop learning as I strive to provide the very best care that I can.

The Grange is a gorgeous, traditional stone farmhouse, which provides long and medium-term care to people who may require support for a period of months, or sometimes longer. The property includes Wilson House and Skelton House, which are similarly equipped for providing long and medium-term care and support.

Elm Court comprises a series of three and four bedroom apartments. This corner of the development offers short-stay rehabilitation for periods of six-24 months, allowing individuals to re-build their skills and confidence before returning to the community.

The Grange and Elm Court also offers short-stay respite care for those experiencing a relapse who may benefit from the stability of a supportive residential setting.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

We are doing everything we can to keep people safe.  We have robust procedures in place to ensure we are following the latest government guidance.  We have always had excellent stock levels of mask and other PPE to ensure we are never without.  We were committed to only allowing admissions following a clear covid 19 test, and this has been our stance since the start of the pandemic on 12th March 2020.  We ask all new admissions to isolate in their rooms initially to be extra sure that they do not have the virus or any symptoms of it.  We train all staff in infection control and support them practically in following the new procedures in their roles.

Safe Visiting Space

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
