Lisa Twigg is The Home Manager at The Brambles Rest Home.

Lisa has been in care for over 20 years, she started out as a carer then has gone on to progress her career into management. Her ethos is to ensure a high standard of care is delivered throughout The Brambles in addition to supporting her staff to develop and grow as a team.

The Brambles care home is specifically designed to provide high-quality residential care to the elderly, including those individuals living with dementia. Our team of qualified, and dedicated, staff focus on the individual needs of residents, and are committed to providing professional and respectful care with the resident at the heart of everything they do. Features such as gardens with low risk walkways, and an activity coordinator, also enable people to engage in life’s everyday simple tasks and pleasures. Essential to the homely feel is the enhanced relationship of trust we build with family, friends and residents.

Luxurious facilities combined with highly trained staff ensures every individual is given superior attention. 24-hour care is provided in a warm, welcoming and safe environment, with delicious meals and daily activities, including a choice of therapeutic approaches.

Together with a lively social calendar, this helps to stimulate people’s minds and empower them to approach their future in a positive way.

Description

With 32 single rooms, all have en-suite toilet and wash hand basin and the majority of our rooms have showers installed, there are also communal bathrooms on each floor. Each room is fully furnished with TV & DVD players in all rooms, however if you wish to bring some of your own personal items from home then we are happy to accommodate this. We have four lovely comfortable communal lounges, with TV’s a visitor lounge and a quiet lounge for those who don’t wish to watch television.

From staff management, one to one person-centered care to cooking, John is always ready to get stuck in with the team in providing the best possible service for all those in our home.

Jane is an experienced senior leader in health and social care, having previously been a Registered Manager, CEO, Head of Care and Nominated Individual of regulated CQC care services. She is passionate about person-centred care and continuous improvement. Jane will be supporting the Registered Manager and care home team in moving forward and ensuring our residents continue to receive quality and personalised care in a place they call home, surrounded by people that care about them, and doing the things they enjoy.

Deborah has been a Cook now for 10 years. She has worked in several care homes in her 10 years experience and has a vast knowledge of different service users' dietary needs e.g diabetes, low salt, low or high protein. She fortifies diets with cream and extra calories for those who are not eating as well as they could and has knowledge of dysphagia using the appropriate level of pureed diet and thickened fluids for the service users needs. She is a traditional cook, making home-cooked food, there is always 2 choices for both lunch and dinner and home-baked cakes or fresh fruit in the afternoon.

Activities Are So Important

Our activities coordinator incorporates a feeling of self-worth and being respected. “It’s not like work really, you engage in a conversation and people come alive. The small things give you that satisfaction, a feel-good factor”. At the Brambles, it’s all about engaging people. We talk to the families and find out what their loved ones like. We are here for the people that live here.

We believe in keeping activities fresh and interesting, so, as well as regular activities like sensory sessions, arts and crafts, bingo and gentle exercise classes, our weekly activity programme includes reading sessions, group exercises, quizzes, bingo, handicrafts, in-door gardening, story group, one-to-one sessions, singing and entertainment.

We believe in any excuse for our residents to enjoy themselves, so we celebrate themed events throughout the year. Our Annual Garden Party is one highlight, as are Christmas and other religious festivals observed by our residents. Birthdays are also an opportunity to make our residents feel special and, wherever we can, we involve family, friends and staff in the events.
