Meet The Manager

Maureen Thompson-Southern is General Manager at Prestbury Beaumont.

Hi, my name is Maureen and I am the General Manager here at Prestbury Beaumont.

In addition to having a wide range of nursing skills and knowledge, I also have a diploma in Business Studies, with several years' experience at an operational level of management.

In more recent years, I have developed a special interest in the health of older adults, firmly believing in the individuality of each person. I consider it essential that older people are supported to remain as healthy and independent as possible, and that they receive the highest quality care at a time when they need it most.

Throughout our adult lives, most of us are able to make our own choices, but as we reach our older years, the scope of our independence can diminish as a result of changing mobility or health. With the right care being delivered, an older person can enjoy as much independence as possible whilst also receiving whatever level of support they need.

Prestbury Beaumont Care Community provides high quality 24-hour nursing care for older people in need of support, allowing residents and their families the freedom to continue to enjoy their customary lifestyle. We also have a number of independent living apartments available on site.

Our highly skilled and attentive team are committed to providing personalised care. This dedication can be seen across all aspects of the home, from hospitality to activities. For example, we offer a vast choice of delicious and nutritionally balanced meals, which can be served in either our terrace dining room or the garden restaurant. We also recognise that remaining active is a huge part of any individual’s well-being, and our day-to-day activities programme is arranged to suit everyone’s needs and preferences.

Residents are able to enjoy the amenities at the Beaumont Spa, which offers a range of beauty and therapy services, such as hair dressing, chiropody, reflexology and Indian head massages, amongst others; and the chance to use our hydrotherapy pool to aid fitness and well-being. Uniquely, Prestbury Beaumont is also able to offer an on-site bespoke physiotherapy service. Treatment focus ranges from muscoskeletal complaints and post-operative rehabilitation to neuro rehabilitation and fall prevention programmes. The aim is to work with residents to achieve their goals and enable them to lead as full and active a life as possible.

We are located on the outskirts of the ancient and beautiful Prestbury village, near Macclesfield, and sit within four acres of stunning woodland and gardens. Why not arrange a visit or pop in and see just what makes Prestbury Beaumont so special? We guarantee you a warm welcome.

Deputy Manager

I am an RGN and hold a degree in Social Care, and my chosen area in the field of nursing is the care of older people.

My journey at Prestbury Beaumont started in 2002, when I worked as a Care Assistant. I then became a Nurse and was eventually promoted to Head of Care and finally Deputy Manager.

My determination to ensure that the quality of care is of the highest standard has driven me to always find ways to further myself in my career in order to be in a position in which I can make a difference to the lives of those I support.

Accordingly, I feel very passionate and responsible for the standard of care that we provide here at Prestbury Beaumont. It is our job to ensure that residents receive the highest level of support whilst feeling valued, understood and respected at all times.

The Importance Of Meal Times

Our irresistible cuisine is prepared with only the very best fresh, seasonal produce, and based on the individual tastes of the people we support. Our menu will satisfy even those with the smallest of appetites; from breakfast through to dinner, residents can discover something different with fresh flavour and lovely presentation. Our fantastic chefs are always keeping themselves busy in the kitchen creating new and exciting dishes for everyone to enjoy.

For residents that have difficulties in swallowing we modify the menu of the day so that is it a soft, palatable dish.  To support our chefs in producing these dishes, our hospitality and Chef Academy organises theory and practical workshops.  Working in partnership with Nutricia, our practical workshops involve all chefs and deputy managers learning about dysphagia and producing these modified menus. The chefs work with the chef trainer to prepare fork mashable and thick puree meals to the correct consistency, taste and presentation.  The deputy managers can then ensure all modified menus served are presented correctly for our residents.

Activities Are So Important

Our home is always full of life, and we can thank our wonderful Activities Coordinators for this. Dedication to creating a unique and interesting activities programme is what sets us apart from other homes. We always take into consideration that some people would prefer to pursue their own interests, which is why our team strive to incorporative activities that cater to a wide range of tastes and hobbies. Our trips out are always fun and exciting as well, and residents are guaranteed to return with stories to tell their loved ones!
