Meet The Manager

Anna-Maria Hicks is Home Manager at OSJCT Isis House Care & Retirement Centre.

Anna is proud to be the Home Manager of Isis House. She holds a Diploma in management and a Level 3 RMA in Dementia and has 30 years’ experience of working in the care industry.

Anna joined the Trust in 2001 (having previously worked for Oxfordshire County Council) and enjoys making a difference to lives of all the interesting and people who reside in the home: she has always loved hearing people’s stories and finding out their unique traits which is why she chose a career in care. Anna feels passionately that, together with her team, she can make a positive impact on shaping the future of care.

In her spare time, Anna enjoys going to the gym, tending to the garden and going on holiday with her family.

Located in the popular area of Iffley, close to Oxford is Isis House offering friendly and high-quality residential and nursing care to 80 residents. The home is conveniently located close to shopping amenities, including a chemist, and is on a bus route to the city centre. A short walk from the well-designed grounds takes you to the river and the charming village of Iffley.

Activities Are So Important

Whether it’s wet or dry outside, we at OSJCT feel that activities are essential in providing the best caring environment to live in.

Hobbies don’t simply stop when living with us at Isis House. We have a dedicated Activities Co-ordinator who works closely with our residents to create a programme of fulfilling activities and events, tailored around each resident’s requests, hobbies and interests. The programme of events and activities provide a source of fun and laughter, to help each resident live their life to the full and make new friendships.

We are also fortunate to have the support of many volunteers of all ages from the local community, strengthening our links to this thriving market town. Here is a sample of activities on offer:

  • Trips to garden centres, cafés, pubs, sporting events, National Trust parks, wildlife parks, aquariums and museums.
  • Visit from Pets as Therapy Dogs
  • Exercise and wellness activities, for example Seated Yoga, Zumba
  • Fun activities with the local toddler and nursery groups
  • Board game competitions and quizzes
  • Gardening
  • Arts and crafts
  • Communal Church services
  • Visit from a pop-up farm including ponies, sheep and goats
  • Visit from Paro, a therapeutic robotic seal

With so many well-being activities for body and mind on offer, we also recognise that everyone needs some personal space for relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection. The cosy lounges offer an opportunity for some quiet time or to host family and friends.

And that’s not all:

Many of the activities feature Reminiscence Therapy to aid those living with Dementia to remember events, people and places using sight, touch, taste, smell and sound.

As we are within a vibrant community, there's never a dull moment. We run regular activities for all to join in:

  • Coffee mornings on Fridays
  • Care Home Open Day
  • Summer and Autumn fetes
  • Christmas parties
