Meet The Manager

Sue Hill is General Manager at Leah Lodge Care Home.

What I do:
I am the General Manager of Leah lodge, as such I have the overall responsibility of the home with the support from my team. My role can vary from day to day and no two days are ever the same .

My experience:
I have been working in the care industry for over 30 years, starting as a care assistant then going back to further education to become a manager first for Suffolk County Council and then into the private sector. I have a passion for Dementia care and hold an advanced Dementia training qualification in addition I have a Dementia mapping qualification which I undertook with Bradford University.

About me:
I am 55 and have been married for over 30 years to Adrian a teacher, I have two sons Tim and Tom both currently studying at university. I am a highly competitive person who likes to succeed. I love to shop and find a bargain!

Following an extensive programme of remodelling and refurbishment, Leah Lodge’s boutique care home opened in October 2015 and today it is home for a small group of 48 residents; this is the perfect number to ensure a close sense of community, whilst allowing the highest standards of personalised care. Situated in Blackheath, Leah Lodge is a short walk away from Blackheath Station. Greenwich Park, a Royal Park and one of the largest single green spaces in south-east London, is close by.

Our boutique residential care home offers 48 comfortable rooms, each with its own private wet room, coupled with round-the-clock care for people living with dementia. Daily housekeeping and laundry come as standard. So, too, do a feeling of security, friendship and being at home.

There are three comfortable lounges where our residents can take part in a range of carefully chosen activities that give the right levels of stimulation while respecting each individual’s need for safety and calm. Popular favourites are our regular Ladies Afternoon and knitting group. Family and friends are invited to come and join us for parties, birthday celebrations and more.

In addition to a cheery café, there are three dining rooms where residents can enjoy delicious, home-cooked food with seasonal ingredients, attentive service and an understanding of what each individual resident enjoys. Every meal we serve has to be something we’d be proud to present to our nearest and dearest at a special family gathering.

Outside there are three small gardens where residents can enjoy gardening or simply sit and chat in the sun.
