Meet The Manager

Phil Chapman is General Manager at Old Sarum Manor Care Home.

Phil has worked in a variety of roles in the Health and Social Care sector, starting as a Care Assistant in 1988. He qualified as a Registered Nurse in 1995 gaining experience on a busy ward environment, working as a community nurse and finally entering management in 2000. The majority of his management roles have been in elderly care, but he also enjoyed roles in community mental health services, physical disabilities and children’s services. “I am proud that my philosophy to care has never changed, respecting people’s values and putting people at the centre of their care is paramount. Residents are equal partners in planning, developing and monitoring care to make sure it meets their needs. When not at work you can often find me walking around a golf course complaining that the ball has not gone in the direction that I hit it.”

Old Sarum Manor without doubt provides the best care home experience in Salisbury. Its all-inclusive offering, brand new luxury home and wonderful, loving staff give its residents a fantastic lifestyle, all for an unbelievable price! Come and visit us to see for yourself.

"Since moving into Old Sarum Manor, I can honestly say it was the best decision we could have ever made! Dad absolutely loves it there. The accommodation is simply beautiful and the staff are extremely kind, caring and attentive. The food is far superior to any other facility we considered for Dad and always looks like it’s come straight from the kitchen of a Michelin Star restaurant! Dad is always telling me he can’t believe how lucky he feels to be there and says it’s like living in a 5 Star hotel. He is clearly much happier and certainly much healthier than he has been for years. I always imagined I would feel guilty “putting my Dad in a care home”, but I am so grateful he is where he is." - Daughter of Resident

Old Sarum Manor opened its doors to residents in October 2020. It is situated in Longhedge Village, next to the Longhedge Local Centre which has a range of shops and amenities.

All residents receive the highest standards of care and stay with us on an all-inclusive basis, which reduces worry and helps them relax. Everything is included in our single weekly fee from beauty treatments and trips to having your family for dinner.

Old Sarum Manor’s state-of-the-art amenities include a cinema, bar, hair & beauty salon, library, landscaped gardens, garden room, tea room and a wide range of beautiful communal spaces. It also has the latest design features to help with infection control.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Despite being vaccinated, we continue to take extra precautions to keep our residents and staff safe and of course we continue to follow all UK Government and Public Health England guidance.

  • Multiple times per week testing of both our residents and team members (any residents moving into our home are tested and isolated)
  • Family visits take place in our Garden Room and all visits are by appointment only
  • Appropriate PPE is worn by all staff members in the building
  • Our staff only work in our care home, and on carefully planned rota’s, reducing the risk of any cross-contamination
  • COVID-19 training is completed by all team members and updated on a regular basis
  • Stringent cleaning schedules in place with extra cleaning procedures and specially designed equipment due to the pandemi
