Meet The Manager

Karen Shepperdson is Home Manager at Borovere.

Prior to becoming home manager, I was Deputy Manager, giving me a good insight into what makes a good care home “tick”.

Our aim is to make living in this beautiful home a positive experience. Everyone who walks through our doors is a priority for me, not only for the new resident but also their family and friends. I have an open door approach, whether it be for residents/families or staff, or just someone dropping in. I sit in on the residents' daily meetings, work alongside the senior team and cover shifts when needed - a welcome change from being office-bound!

We continue to be ambassadors for the Eden Alternative, empowering residents to make decisions about the way they live and actively looking for ways to keep their identity alive. Above all I want Borovere to continue being a home where people feel listened to and safe to discuss any concerns, with residents feeling comfortable and staff feeling that Borovere is the place they want to work

Karen Shepperdson

Borovere care home in Alton is one of the warmest, friendliest and happiest Residential Care homes in Alton in North Hampshire. This home is also one of the most popular care homes in the whole of the Alton area. The residents enjoy the homely setting, living a positive and independent life supported by the caring professionals who are so proud to serve them.

People who visit the care home for the first time often remark on how happy the residents are and how relaxing the home is for them. This is something the Home Manager and her team pride themselves on. This is also one of the reasons why local health care professionals in Hampshire hold Borovere in such high esteem and also why so many people want to live there.

The team at Borovere are immensely proud to have been awarded the highly coveted Eden Alternative accreditation. This is an internationally recognised award that shows we live and breathe our values. It also shows that we always put our residents first and ensure that they retain a real sense of independence whilst being subtly cared for by our loving and professional team.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
