Meet The Manager

Cheryl Harbourne is General Manager at Blossomfield Grange.

I’m an experienced manager, having joined Blossomfield Grange from a Commissioning Manager position at another care provider.

I’m also trained as a Registered General Nurse and have achieved a diploma in neuroscience and a Leadership and Management in Care Services qualification. I decided to join Care UK because it’s a provider with a great reputation.

As a General Manager, you need to be patient, calm and compassionate. It’s important to have a warm approach and also a good sense of humour! The most important part of my role is ensuring residents are living safe and happy lives, and I find that to be the most fulfilling part of what I do. Seeing happy residents, happy colleagues and a happy home makes me proud.

Cheryl Harbourne

Blossomfield Grange provides luxury life-enabling residential and dementia care for older people in the West Midlands. The home is set in beautiful, wheelchair-friendly landscaped grounds, designed for a gentle stroll or relaxing walks.

The passionate, dedicated team ensure that all residents’ individual needs and requirements are met; whether that is arranging for a favourite meal to be created by the chef or for residents to enjoy pursuing beloved hobbies or learning new skills. They also hold regular dementia support groups for residents, friends and family members.

The Solihull care home is easily accessible from Birmingham Airport and the M42, M6 and M40, making it a convenient location for visiting family and friends.

Autumna has invited care providers to evidence the infection control measures they are carrying out, above and beyond those laid out by the government, in order to keep residents, staff and visitors safe.

What we're doing to keep residents & visitors safe

Visitors must be double vaccinated, unless they are medically exempt, and return a negative test. Residents may leave care homes, that are free of any Covid outbreak, to visit or stay overnight with family or a friend, or go on walks in places such as parks, public gardens and beaches without the need to isolate on their return. A negative test result will only be required on return if there has been close contact with a suspected or confirmed case of Covid-19. We are also offering visits in our Covid-safe visiting suites as well as window and drive-up visits for all homes, including those with Covid outbreaks, where we have the support of local public health teams. Nominated essential care givers can offer residents additional support during visits. Essential care givers can continue to visit when a home is in outbreak.

Infection Control Initiatives in place
safe-tick Independent Assessments We have been independently assessed in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Infection Control Training Our staff are trained to use measures which prevent and control infections.
safe-tick Infection Screening We are using technology to screen for infections & monitor symptoms.
safe-tick Regulatory Assessment We have been assessed by the care regulator in our approach to infection control.
safe-tick Sterilisation & Disinfection Devices We are using sterilisation and/or disinfection devices within our care setting.
safe-tick Virus Testing We are testing for viral infection when symptoms present within our care setting.
Safe Visiting Space
safe-tick We have a safe visiting space

All Care UK homes now have purpose-built internal or external visiting suites available which enable visits to take place from behind a sealed glass panel, using a sound system to assist with communication. Where Government guidance and local health teams allow, these suites make it possible to continue visiting even when we have a case of Covid-19 in the home.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
