Berwick House has 21 members of staff: 18 of whom are directly involved with providing care for the service users. Between them they have over 100 years care experience.  All our senior carers hold a NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care and more than 55% of staff hold an NVQ level 2 and others are working towards their NVQ2.

Berwick house covers a wide range of training, not only do we complete the mandatory training. We go even further to complete other training courses such as catheter care, challenging behaviour, must and dysphasia, common health problems, end of life care and so much more. All staff re-train every year in dementia to keep our knowledge up to date to help us provide the best care we possibly can.

Domestic and Maintenance personnel are to ensure the home is a safe and clean environment at all times following the regulations set by COSHH and HSE.

Our cooks work on alternate days preparing and providing meals to our residents 3 times a day to meet each individual dietary need.

Activities Are So Important

We have a themed park area upstairs which includes flowers and a bench to provide a tranquil place for them to sit either during the night or if they are becoming distressed. They are able to sit and have a cup of tea, read the paper. We have found this area helps to calm a person down.

Our reminiscence area which include old tv, sewing machines, memory box and telephone. Reminiscence books and games which work really well and rabbits in the garden that the residents love.
