Our Building and Facilities

Well designed, fully equipped, spacious, safe, warm and comfortable buildings are not everything when it comes to care homes, but they are very important.

Every Porthaven home has been designed by leading care home architects and designers, and significantly exceed not only other care homes in terms of design standards, but also regulatory standards. Practical and safety features have been thoughtfully incorporated into each home to ensure our residents benefit from the best of current innovations in care home design.

We are house-proud too, and ensure all areas are kept clean and fresh at all times for the benefit of everyone at the home. Our landscaped gardens are always carefully tended so our residents and relatives can continue to enjoy a morning or afternoon pottering in the garden.

      Activities Are So Important

Our Leisure and Wellness Coordinators work closely with residents to provide a programme of leisure and wellness activity choices and events seven days a week. Home life is a priority at Porthaven, and every resident receives a person-centred approach and an individual exercise programme tailored to their needs and personal goals.

Every Porthaven home has a dedicated ‘Leisure and Wellness Room’ and a daily programme for enjoying wellness activities, including Zumba, Yoga, Tai Chi, Pilates, iPad sessions, music, art and pet therapies, socials and clubs, inter-home bowling matches, art history, wine tasting and casino nights – to name but a few. In some of our homes, we also have gyms with specialist equipment for older people, and cinemas or cafés, all present to enhance leisure and wellness choices.

With so many well-being activities for body and mind, we also recognise that everyone needs some time to honour their spirit with relaxation and mindfulness for personal reflection, and our unique leisure and wellness programme incorporates opportunities for this.

If you would like to find out more about our innovative and inspirational indoor activities, please call any of our homes and arrange for a visit at your convenience. Click here for a list of contact numbers or to send us a message.
