Susannah Barker-Milan is Manager at Monson Retirement Home.
I’m delighted to be the Monson manager.
I have a wealth of experience managing both nursing and residential care homes, with specialist expertise in dementia care.
As well as managing care homes, I’ve spent some of my career working at Lincolnshire County Council (LCC) in numerous roles spanning home care management, home care and residential care development.
Whilst working at LCC, I was afforded an opportunity to undertake research, alongside the Bradford University Dementia Group, to explore dementia care mapping use in supported living. One of my previous roles was Head of Dementia Care at Country Court Care, then taking on the Registered Manager role across two sites providing residential and nursing care for up to 72 residents.
I strongly believe that the people who choose to live at Monson deserve to receive good care as standard and have people supporting them who understand what “Outstanding Care” is all about, and strive to provide it.
Purpose-built home with a range of facilities to suit your every need. Each bedroom at Monson is spacious, fully equipped and has been tastefully decorated.
All bedrooms have en-suite wet floor bathrooms, flat-screen TVs and high-speed internet so you can stay connected with loved ones. If you prefer something more relaxing, we have a specialist bath with a powered seat transfer. Socialise with friends we have our own coffee shop as well as a number of lounges, perfect for socialising, over a game of cards or a board game, or simply to have a chat.
Our air-conditioned lounges have smart TVs and views out to the walled garden and for those who want some quiet time, we have a library where you can sit back and read a book.
Your privacy is important to us, that’s why we have a dedicated clinical room that facilitates our attending doctor, district nurses, chiropodist, dentist and optician.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications |

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.
