Owned and operated by Borough Care, Bruce Lodge is a purpose-built care home in Offerton. Its wide corridors and light, airy environment adds to its lovely atmosphere. Structured as clusters of small households, Bruce Lodge is an ideal home for those living with dementia. 

The home’s central atrium area is a bustling marketplace, complete with a 1950s style café, florist, post office, hat shop and a telephone box. Memorabilia adorns the area, creating a warm and welcoming space for residents and their families to relax. Our Activity and Lifestyle Facilitators (ALFs) and specialist carers make sure the residents have the best quality of life possible at Bruce Lodge.

Work was completed on 20 additional en-suite bedrooms and a separate single storey new entrance in 2021. The award wining extension is home to new bedrooms are arranged around an open plan ‘household’ model of communal living facilities, embracing the most recent research and key dementia design principles by the Dementia Services Development Centre and Stirling University’s published Dementia Design guidance. The new extension maximises independence, reinforces personal identity and enhances self-esteem and confidence.

Our whole approach, embraced by our fully-trained staff, is to encourage every resident to live the most fulfilled and valuable lives, focused on quality relationships for the well-being and happiness of all those who choose to live with us, and their families.

We have strong ties to the local community and partnerships with others who help extend our range of services. We have regular visits from hairdressers, aromatherapists, nail technicians, masseuses, local faith groups, mobile libraries, etc. But the highlights of many residents’ weeks are the huge range of activities, exercise and excursions planned to add a daily dose of fun and stimulation: it can be a simple game of chair basketball; visits from local schools; a session of Kung Fu squash; or trips to the zoo, parks, or seaside!
