Meet The Manager

Theresa Ward is Registered Manager at Victory Care Home.

We have a really strong team here at Victory. There’s a mixture of ages, and some of us have been here decades! It’s a nice balance.

All the team are very caring and kind – they take time to get to know each resident’s likes and dislikes, and to listen to their stories and experiences. I’m proud to lead them and to manage Victory Care Home.

Connectivity for resident testing, monitoring & communications

Infection control and the safety of both residents and staff often requires quarantine measures and the isolation of care home residents. To test, monitor and allow residents to communicate with relatives, the prevalence of room-level connectivity within the home is becoming increasingly relevant.

Our Building and Facilities

Victory has been a purpose-built care home since 1984. All our communal spaces and bedrooms are on one accessible floor.

Our building has four wings, all named after ships that were at the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805. Our care home is names after HMS Victory, best known for her role as Lord Nelson’s flagship, which was built in nearby Chatham Historic Dockyard.

Neptune and Swiftsure each have their own lounge/dining room and a kitchenette. Care staff prepare snacks, and visitors and our more able residents can help themselves to a cuppa.

Sirius has its own lounge, and Orion has a large lounge/dining room for Sirius and Orion residents to share. We also hold our parties and group activities in Orion. Residents in all four wings can take part in activities in each area.

Description

We have 51 single bedrooms here at Victory, all with en-suites or washbasins. Rooms without en-suites have accessible toilets and bathrooms nearby.

Many of the bedrooms look out onto one of our three courtyard gardens.

We encourage residents to personalise their rooms with their own photos and furniture. This helps our residents to feel more at home and give our staff the chance to learn more about each resident. It gives us an insight into their life, sparking conversation and generally improving the quality of life for individuals.

Victory was one of the first Agincare care homes to paint each bedroom door a different colour. Together with a number and door knocker, this makes the door more recognisable for the resident of that room. We want each resident to feel happy, safe and at home in their new space.
